Staycation vs Vacation?

I enjoy days out and weekends away quite a lot but I haven't ever done a staycation. I am very keen on traveling to different countries. So I like to like to go on an independently arranged trip abroad. This year I bought a return flight from London to Vancouver for myself, my disabled son and my baby daughter. We stayed with friends plus family and also in guest houses. Last year I flew from London to Cape Town return with my son. I was pregnant with my baby daughter. My normal life is budget style and so is my traveling.

I get two weeks split in two for vacation. My first vacation of the year was a staycation. I enjoyed it immensely. When I do a staycation, the closest place I might go to is Kansas City for a day. But, most of the time, I like being home. My second week vaction might be a vacation. When my boyfriend and I have a vacation together, it seems like he wants to go someplace. Like, this time around we've been talking about going to Hannibal, MO. Because, neither of us has been there. But, I think that would only be a two to three day trip at the most. I, for the most part, don't do a whole lot when I'm home, except stay home and try to not spend so much money.
