Interesting Philosophical belief that I was just recently turned onto. If you like philosophical ideas then you should become aware of this. Its pretty fascinating. Basically its the belief that onlys ones mind is sure to exist. Its compatible with other theroies/beliefs such as fatalism and nihilism. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solipsism

Rene Descartes - Did he exist or did Franz Hals invent him?
I cannot accept that solipsism is 'compatible with other theories/beliefs such as fatalism and nihilism.' If the 'only certainty' is the existence of my own mind, whatever I say must be true (so long as I believe it to be so). How can anyone prove that my mind is sure to exist? Of course, I believe that it does (and, presumably, you would also vehemently assert that your mind exists) but neither of us can prove it. Consequently, existence itself is a figment of the imagination.
