I am sure we have all heard about the world supposed to be ending in 2012, or there being a catastrophic thing that happens and cuts the populationin half..whatever they are saying, lol...
What are your thoughts on this? And where do your beliefs come from?
Do you believe this because of the calendar ending, Or did they just have to end the calender somewhere and it just so happened to fall on 12/10/2012?
IF the world was gonna end would we really be able to predict it? and that many years ago?

A couple years ago, I accidently got pulled into research on this very subject. There are tons of theories about what may happen,,,some by reprtable people, some not.
One thing I know. A polar shift has happened before. The north star is not where it was eons ago, and neither are the poles. The magnetic north pose IS moving, and it is predicted that it will end up somewhere close to where the equater is now. These are facts.
There is an underground volcano in the US Grand Canyon area, that is so large, that the ash from its eruption would cover the entire United States.
What does all this mean? I have no idea. What will be will be.
By the way, the Mayans believed that the world AS WE KNOW IT will end...but they also believe it will become a world of beauty and tranquility.

lol...I believe the world will end on 12/10/2012 before I see complete beauty and tranquility on this Earth....lol....
Seriously though, do people see a connection with the Myans believing that and the fact that God says he will create a new Earth, one of beauty and tranquility?
hmmm.... =)

I posted a blog entry a while back about this: http://walshblogging.blogspot.com/2009/12/why-will-world-end-in-2012.html
Comment on my response and tell me what you think about my views on the situation.

Maybe its a good way to boost the economy in a financial crisis, and make people say hey the world is ending might as well go into debt, we arent gonna have to pay that off...lol...Sounds like a weird conspiracy but wouldnt put it past 'em.
I seem to recall the millenium as well, when the world was gonna end in 2000...and then oh got it wrong its really 2001, but wait...we're still here...lol
I read your blog but I cant comment on it because I do not have one of those profiles, but I figured I'd comment on it here.

people are making their assumptions but nothing happens this way, the truth is when something is created it is destroyed after the time for which it is set to be there and one supreme thing is doing all that so why worry just enjoy your present...if it ends it was destined to be if not than not...some time leave this to god and enjoy what you are doing right now..feel good doing good things in life for your self for others for the society...

I'm not concerned about 2012. It's more of a joke me and my friends like to play around with hah.
If the world is to end, let it end. If it's to continue, let it continue.

I do not think that the world is going to end in 2012. I think that they just had to stop the calendar somewhere. The only thing I think about is what kind of craziness is the world going to be in on December 10, 2012. What are we going to be doing that day? Most of the world is going to go insane, thinking the world is going to end that day. This is the same theory as the computer technology taking over the world. It's not going to happen.

Its a tough idea - having some sense of knowing when we're all going to die.
I personally don't want to believe that i have less than 3 years left HOWEVER i know that the mayains had all theire predictions to this date correct.
So fingers crossed that its not going to happen but i guess waiting till it gets closer to see if there are any signs of something bad thats going to happen.
When will we die? No idea but with all the pollution, wars and climate issues, i don't think our earth would be able to last another 1000 years. Thats my opinion tho. Its such a big mystery, and yet i love thinking about this issue as it intrigues me.

It is a mystery..but whatI dont get is the scientists they say they believe it will happen, but they cant say what will happen..lol..
Now for my conspiracy theory, as I stated above...lol..(btw this is just for entertainment purposes)
Financial recession......Create hoax that world will end soon, so we dont care about our credit and buy buy buy and that boosts the economy..lol
I know its a very very far stretch, but I like to entertain (even fleeting) thoughts sometimes..lol

Well yes, it does seem highly improbable and also consider that fact that way back then, what those people perceived as ‘world’ may not be the same as to what we perceive it as today.
Even then, I do feel we are headed for some kind of disaster and a third world war seems more plausible to me than any natural catastrophe. However, if its some giant asteroid hurtling towards us or a dormant volcano wanting to explode, I do think scientist will have some inkling of that beforehand (otherwise what are they spending fortunes on research for!)
On a more optimistic yet morbid tone…I do feel it would be good if the end does come that way… we all will die together, so no loved ones left behind AND if I could just know for sure, then I’d spend what little money I have in enjoying myself to the hilt LOL

I honestly believe the world won't end, they say it like very four years and often enough the reason why it will end changes. It hasn't happened yet and I don't see it happening at all or at least within our life time. I read awhile back that scientist are trying to determine how long the sun will continue to burn, as they feel the gas which the sun produces and burns is likely to run out and in such event will cause life to die off.
How do they know that the sun isn't going to continue to produce it? How do they know that something else doesn't cause it to burn?

Hi stacy, There has been a lot of hype about this and some people are making a lot of money. You can find many books have been written about it and they are playing on the fears of people. We may be entering a new age but I don't think we have to worry about the world ending anytime soon. Blessings.

Doomsday 2012 was actually based on the Mayan calendar. But it does not say that humanity will cease to exist. The Mayans believed that civilizations ends and man will start a new era or age and it is not the end of the world.

I don't believe the 2012 thing is true because people have made up a bunch of dates saying the world was going to end and it hasn't yet. Honestly I believe that the world will end when we least expect it and there's no point in worrying about it. As long as you have God in your life you will be just fine and there is no point in worrying about when this world and your world is going to end.

I see the end as something like this:
A gignatic butt will appear from the sky, and fart humanity to its doom...
___
and now on a series note, that 2012 thing is such a big crap... with that nibiru star or something, or a big war between the whole nations... I mean god, people are so bored... don't they have anything else to do?
My grandma(which celebrated 83 2 days ago) told me that when she was 7 years old at her town, someone called everyone to street to see the world ending, everyone stopped them doing for the whole day... WAITING for doom, and by the noon people were just fed enough with this man's crap, and started throwing stones at him until he ran away...
yes that's what I think about 2012 also. the only end which is coming is the end of earth by human, our earth dying because of pollution and because of the 80% of people in the society which are not recycling and plus the 10% people who do recycle but not putting enough afford into it...
