Are You Frustrated When An Item You Like Is Discontinued?

There are two items I have liked in the past that are now discontinued..and it really PISSES ME OFF! A few years ago I discovered a perfume by Givenchy called Organza Indecence. After testing it I ended up buying both the perfume and the body veil (body lotion to you and me) at ridiculous prices...but I could afford it then!! Unbelievably, I still have the body veil but the perfume ran out about 2 years ago..and that's when I ran into problems trying to find some more. Every shop I went in told me that they don't stock it anymore and I couldn't find it on the internet either. I resorted to emailing Givenchy who let me know that they had indeed discontinued this product but WOULDN'T TELL ME WHY!! I find it so frustrating that awful perfumes endorsed by "celebrities" are bought in their thousands but a more classy fragrance like Indecence is shelved. It's not fair! The same thing happened with the Sure "Big Ball" Roll-On Anti-perspirant. I rang them up and they said that "no-one was buying it" to which I replied, "I'M BUYING IT!" but it didn't work, it wasn't brought back, much to my dismay. Has this happened to you? Bought something for years (or just once) and then found it was "suddenly" discontinued by the manufacturer? Annoying, isn't it?

Yer, i had this problem with a certain item from swiss tech. Instead you have to buy the more expensive "better" version. Also, there are loads of cars from the past that they should remake today.

Hello! I know what you mean about cars. My hubby's car is about 15 years old (maybe even older) and it keeps "hanging on" so to speak. At the time it came out it was quite posh car, what with the leather seats and decent air-conditioning. I will be most upset when it finally packs in altogether as it has been driven thousands of miles over the years. Cars these days lack soul!

YES-especially where makeup is concerned. i have to be very careful about my eyeliner-i react to a lot of them. i had one made by maybelline i used for years..and they just discontinued it,no warning. so,of the choices i have left,i have to pick one with the least side effects. one of these days,i'm going the pay the money for permanent.it'd be worth it to me. i've been known to react to so called "hyperallergenic" makeups.

I only use pencil eyeliner..the soft kohl types. I have only been known to use brands I trust and never deviate from them. I wouldn't know where to start with a brush version and I do know what you mean about some eye make-up products affecting the user as it has happened to me with some very cheap eyeshadow that was made in China. I remember my eyelids stinging like crazy when I first wore it. God knows what was in it but I've not used it since!

Yup, it's annoying. I find the same thing happening with new TV shows I like...

Happens all the time. Either an item is discontinued by the manufacturer or my store stops carrying it. Annoying....

Hello Janey1966, we were just talking about this at lunch. it was over shoes a guy bought a pair at target and look like slippers but he says they are so soft and that he needs a new pair and hopes target will still carry them. If I find shoes I really like and wear a lot I will go back the followign week to get another pair. Because by the time I get back there in 1 year they will no longer carry them. The size of clothing really bothers me too. If I find a pair of jeans it is the same deal i will get two pairs instead of just one. Holidays are the worse to fined items we really like or at the time I do not ahve enough money to get and then they are out stock or they tell us week later they are no longer carrying this item. Sometimes I will hide a extra pair or shirt until I get enough money and come back to get it. i will burry it in the pile or move in the another section hopeing no else will get it. Thanks and have a great day! Sincerely unique16

What a great idea to hide something so no-one else finds it. Excellent! Why didn't I think of that? I have a problem with my size being one of the most popular. Invariably, I will look through the racks to no avail. Mind you, many women are buying leggings now so pairs of jeans are left on the racks..and guess which I prefer..yes..jeans! Hoorah!

Yes! For me it is a mac cosmetics blush. I absolutely loved the product and bought it continuously. Then, it was discontinued. I understand that there are dupes for it, but I loved that product.

That must be so frustrating for you as it will be difficult finding "dupes" for it, like you say. It's much easier buying what you used to buy but the companies don't see it that way, unfortunately.

Yes, quite a few times.. I have had a favorite shampoo just disappear :( and so many other things.. the one I am having a problem with right now is this frozen Pizza I just discovered. It's called Palermos Pizza.. It is SO good. I try it- I love it. Then the store I find it at is discontinuing it.. I go to the website - it says they still sell it there and a couple other sotres in my area.. can I find it? NO.. :( It sucks.

They have probably taken the pizza off due to low sales, maybe? They still shouldn't do it though because you buy it. They should get the pizza in specially for you. Surely that's what supermarkets are supposed to do? Keep their customers happy? I suppose you could complain to the manager and tell him or her that it can be bought on the website, so why can it not be bought in the store? You probably won't get anywhere but it's worth a try.

I have been mad for over a year because they have discontinued my favorite blueberry tea at my grocery store. Everywhere for that matter. It does aggravate me that there is something that I really enjoy and they stop it...

How frustrating that must be for you. You have been buying the same product for years...then it disappears from the shelves. NOT GOOD! To be honest, Tesco isn't my favourite shop and I'd use what you told me as a good excuse for a rant at management! I do hope your liquid works as well..let me know won't you?

There are not many things that are as aggravating is having something you like discontinued. You don't like to get too attached to a certain product becsause you don't know if it will always be around. Sometimes I feel i should just sock up on something I like so I am not disappointed later. Many times the frustration comes when there is no warning that what you like is gone.

With the products I mentioned earlier, there was no warning..I just couldn't find them in any store I went in. That's when the alarm bells started ringing and I then had to contact the manufacturers who were the ones to tell me they had been discontinued.

Yes, it happened to me quite a few things, and I was soooo annoyed each time! For some of the stuff, I never found a replacement, which makes it even worse!
