I do and I could not live without it! I don´t like to have food cooking for hours. With a pressure cooker even the toughest foods (such as some dry legumes) are done in minutes). I love this as I fry the onions, the spices and all other things I will add to the dish while the rest is cooking. I can make a wonderfull dish of lentils in 10 minutes and a wonderful stew (using cheaer and tougher meat) in another 10.
Share your experiences with this wonder. Is it part of your kitchen? How many times a week do you use it? Are you aware of the savings in gas or electricity you have with it?

I don´t have a slower cooker but I don´t understand about putting veggies and meat together. The meat is tougher and most veggies cook in minutes. Dont they get overcooked this way? I use my pressure cooker to cook tough meats, dry legumes and all that. Then I open the lid and finish the cooking the normal way. Sometimes I do as yesterday: cooked a lot of soaked dry beans. Today I put away in the freezer all I will not use today. The beans are just cooked. Now I´ll put the reast of the yummy ingredients.

I've heard of pressure cookers I'm not familiar with how they work exactly... nor do I know anyone with one. Very interesting that it's a time and energy saver, I may have to look further into how to use one.

They are easy to use and they save a lot of energy too. Today I soaked a pound of dry beans and put them in the pressure cooker. They cooked in 10 minutes, from commercial to commecial in the TV show I was watching. I cook eanough to save some and prepare the rest. I just cooked them with water asnd then I add the fried onions, garlic, bacon or whatever you wish to add.

Pressure cooker is a must in our cooking. I can cook anything in short time and it cooks so well too. Everyday we use pressure cooker for something or other. Even the vitamins are saved by cooking in a pressure cooker. In our families, in the marriage of the daughter, pressure cooker of two sizes, one 10 ltrs. and the other 5 ltr. is given to the bride as this is a priority item to start a new life.

I like to cook, but I don´t like to wait forever for the food to cook. Modern cookers are easy to use and save time and money. Yrsterday I cooked dry beans from one commercial to another in TV.

No dawn. They are not dangerous at all. Mine has 3 valves that open if pressure gets to high. Modern cookers are easy to use and save time and money. Today I boiled dry beans in 10 minutes.

Hi,
I do not use pressure cooker in my cooking, but sometimes
I will use slow cooker to stew chicken or pork,it makes the
meat so tender and I can save the gas, then I no need to
keep monitoring the dish whether it will get burn or not.
As long as I put adequate water to cover the meat, set the mode(eith
low or high),left it there cook for 3-4 hours, It is definitely
yummy and taste delicious.
My mum do bought me a pressure cooker and I am yet to try it out.
Every day I will cook for my family. My husband prefer home-cooked dishes.
I seldom cook those fried foods, I prefer stir-fried,steam and stew.
More healthy in a way.

Try it. Imagine boiling drey beans to tender stage in 10 minutes! That´s what I did yesterday. I would not be able to cook some tough meats like tongue or tripes if it wasn´t for the cooker. Modern cookers are easy to use and save time and money.

My pressure cooker is not dangerous at all asit has 3 safety valves. In order to have something gone wrong, I suppose I must leave the cooker at full heat and go away. But then, so would normal pots have problems that way.

I haven't got a pressure cooker but would like to try cooking with one as it makes stews and things like that faster and using less electricity. I've heard you have to remember to let the pressure out first or the food ends up on the ceiling though, maybe modern pressure cookers have a fail safe so you can't do that though.

Modern pressure cookers are absolutly safe. Mine has 3 different valves that open and let out air and pressure if you forget to low it after it has reached the pressure point (well shown too). I burn potatoes at least once a week because I´m at the computer, but I have never had a problem with my pressure cooker as it´s very safe.

I have not used a pressure cooker than often in my life. I usually only use a pressure cooker when I am canning something. I know my grandmother used a pressure cooker often when she was cooking.

THe pressure cooker is a great energy saving device plus it also cuts your time in the kitchen. You can do many good dishes by just dumping most of the ingredients there and program it for 10 minutes.

I love using the pressure cooker for cooking most of my foods for it is a very quick way in enjoying food that takes over 8 hours to cook using other slow methods

i love using the pressure cooker its a very quick way to prepare meals that usually take about 3-4 hours to prepare such as tough meats. The end result is juicey tender succulent meat that is filled with flavours. My mother only uses the pressure cooker when she is preparing her three pot meat stew.

Thanks for sharing, Terrence. I love pressure cookers too, for the same reason. I like to cook, but I don´t like to wait for hours until food gets cooked. That´s where the wonder comes to help. I make legumes in a jiffy and stews, beets and some tough meats.
Happy posting!

I love cooking a variety of dishes but I used to be scared of using the pressure cooker even if the rest of my family would do so. And since I am always the assigned cook for our family gatherings and occassions, I decided that I have to overcome this fear. My dad slowly introduced to me the safe way to handle the pressure cooker and from then on, I was cooking away with it.
My nieces love my chili con carne with red kidney beans. I remember, I would soak the beans overnight in water but it would still take a long time to soften this yummy beans. Now it takes 20 minutes to do so. I can cook different dishes using the tripe like callos and our native kare-kare in 25 minutes. Even the pochero, I can do in a shorter time now.
I used to be the last to dress up for our parties because I would patiently wait for the beef stew to slowly cook. But even with the pressure cooker at hand, I would still simmer the dish for another 10 minutes or so to make the meat absorb all the other ingredients and spices that I put in. Yummmm!

I now cook the whole kilo of beans or other legumes (no salt added) and put away in the freezer what I won´t use in the moment. Cooking the legumes with a pressure cooker can take fron 10 to 20 minutes depending on the legume. It´s a great saving.
Have a nice day.

I've never used a pressure cooker before. However, my aunt does use her's when she's storing meat in jars. I'm not sure exactly how it works, but I've heard you have to be careful with the cookers. They can be dangerous if they're not used correctly.

I have never used a pressure cooker in all my years of cooking. I guess i'm just an old timey cook. I don't ever use a crock pot either. I'm just very set in my ways of doing things, lol. I have used a crock pot but never a pressure cooker.

Pressure cooker is really the best especially for cooking stews. They make the meat tenderer without having to overcook your vegetables. And of course, they do save time and gas.

I use a pressure cooker for many things,it saves so much time. The pressure cooker is the original 'fast food' machine. The fast cooking action of pressure cooker can cut the cooking time to just a third of the cooking time of conventional cooking methods, and that's time you can spend on other activities. You can do a beef stew in 15 minutes and also the meat comes out so much more tender :)

Yes since it makes cooking stews convenient with the added convenience of tenderizing tough cuts of meats. With pressure cooker cooking time is always cut into half.
