Hi guys, I have installed adobe reader on my computer. I am using window 7 for my O.S. Its working perfectly find but from time to time, a box will appear which asks me if I want to update my adobe reader. I do not want to update it and cannot figure out, how to stop this box from appearing from time to time. I just want to leave it as is. I can easily close the box, but sometimes its very irritating. I would greatly appreciate it if someone can help me out on this....

I too used to face this issue with Adobe Reader. So, what i do was i removed the adobe updater exe file from the program files. As earlier i was having a limited bandwidth internet, these updates would waste around 40-50 MB of my bandwidth.
So i stopped using Adobe Reader and switched to "Foxit Reader".
Foxit Reader is a freeware app to view pdf files and its very light too.Just 7MB.
And it didn't ask for updates like Adobe Reader.

That is really great of you to share such knowledge. I will try it out. Although as of the moment, I have already resolve the problem. It was due to the help of those that have responded on my post. I was able to disable the updating and now its not giving me any hassle anymore. Thanks for the support and thanks for the new information.

It's good to have the latest version of Adobe Reader because evewntually the older version won't be able to read newer version PDFs. It doesn't take that long to install the updates. I go through it now and then.
I don't have an answer to your question re how to stop the update box from appearing except to say it will go away if you go ahead and update.

Well, thank you very much for that interesting information Joyce. I have not encountered yet where I have tried to open a pdf file and it did not open. But I will surely keep it mind and perhaps update my existing reader should it fail to read new pdf files.
