Don’t you just hate cleaning vacuum cleaners?

Let me tell you about one of my least favorite chores to do. I hate cleaning the vacuum. Today was a slow day. It was very hot outside so me and the kids stayed indoors. We already had our fun at the waterpark yesterday so today I decided to just do some chores.
Of course the vacuum was already full so I had to clean it up. Aside from it being old, and full, it has lost some of its suction power. So, a little cleaning might help make the job of vacuuming all the carpet a little easier.
So when was your vacuum last cleaned? Do you have the bag type? Or the bagless type? Or do you have one of those expensive type that you never know how to clean? What do you do?

I clean my vacuum cleaner about every other use, as I have dog hair galore that always needs to be removed from the roller and brushes and such. Mine is the bag type, but if and when it needs to be replaced, I'll definitely be going bagless!

To me, it would be easier to just empty the container than to have to replace the bag. Most importantly, though, is the fact of saving money by not having to buy bag replacements and saving the environment a wee bit buy eliminating a 'throw-away' item from my lifestyle. I'm not really sure which type is the least messy as far as having to clean the vacuum itself, but I have the feeling they're about the same.

Actually... Well only the mini vacs, ya know the ones where you take the thing out that looks kind of like a coffee filter, smack it against the trash can, pull the excess stuff off then smack the thing back in the vacuum. I guess i also don't mind cleaning the rainbow's vacuum part as you just take the hose attachment, turn it on and suction the stuff from the bottom of the vacuum part.

The one we have I wouldn't call a mini vac. And the 'thing' that I take out from it I wouldn't consider smacking against a trash can as it spreads all the dust and dirt from it into the air and mostly into my arms. And I woudn't want that.
Thanks!

Ours does kind of go into the air but not much, and it stays around the trash can, as for on my arms nope no there. I think vacuuming it would be better but then again silly as if you're going to clean that filter with the other vac you might as well use the other vac to begin with.
the "mini vac" is our kitchen vac.

Hey bounce! I hate cleaning my vacuum cleaner! I hate when it's
time to change the bag! In fact, I have to remember to get more
bags when I go to the grocery store and a new mop thing too!
Just more annoying and expensive things to have to remember and
deal with! Most of the time now my bf changes the bag, but if
I'm the one that get's stuck I always have a problem getting that
new bag to stay in place!

Cleaning the bag is horrible thats true. I am not a fan of vacuming at all. Anything hat goes along with vacuuming goes on my least favorite list!

Hi bounce58, it's rather annoying that when I'm busy with the cleaning chore the vacuum cleaner seems not work effectively. I understand that the content in its garbage bag is already full. I hate to clean the bag as well. therefore I always do the cleaning chore using vacuum when my husband is at home. I usually would ask him to give a hand to coop with the saturated bag. Yeah, after the bag is empty it serves its purpose perfect well.
It's true that the old vacuum cleaner which has been using for quite a long time wouldn't work really well even the bag in it is entirely cleaned. Due to this, we had bought a brand new but economical one few months back to make the floor cleaning more efficiently. It's worth to pay for it. It's not affordable for us to purchase the branded one with very much expensive in price
Have a nice day

Hi Ikbooi. It is great that you have somebody else to clean the vacuum when you need to do that chore. Unfortunately, that tasks falls unto me.
I do wonder about those expensive kind of vaccuums. It must be nice and easy to use them. But like you, I find that I couldn't afford those.
Thanks for dropping by.

I vacuum but I use my sister's bagless. The rule is I vacuum , she cleans it. I prefer a vacuum with bags. When the bag is full , just replace it!

bounce hi well lollol I do not have to do any of the chores I just used to hate but I really would trade my freedom from chores for once more being in an apartment and on my own again. My room is vacuumed just about every day and my bed made and my bathroom cleaned each day. I am spoiled rotten here and do not even get to make my o wn meals which I hate as I loved to cook. Also the food is not the greatest here especially for diabetics at all. some days its great and other days its not all that
good. lol lol.

Hi Hatley.
You'd be surprised how some people would gladly have your situation now. Somebody to cook for them, make their beds, clean their rooms, including doing the vacuuming and the cleaning of the vacuum.
Of course there is no substitute of having a place you can call your own. Even if it does include cleaning the vacuum.

I have a very expensive vacuum that is not worth the money but it does have a bag. I just cleaned it out on Friday. However, I will have to clean it out again tomorrow because my daughter borrowed it for her new house and there was nothing but cat hair all over she said.

Hi,
I don't have a vacuum cleaner at home.
So you might be wondering how do I clean my house?
Normally, I will use a broom to sweep the floor, then will mop the floor
with water and mop.
Because my house floor is tile,so it is better to use water to mop
the floor,it looks cleaner and shining. By just vacuuming, it might still
not that clean enough.
I do plan to buy a vacuum cleaner,at least I can use it to clean my car
and also some corner that hard to reach.I am keep delaying it and till now
not yet buy.
I am not sure what brand to buy and I know some vacuum cleaner is not cheap
too.
However,if I were to buy, i might not go for those expensive one. I prefer
those come with simple function and can do simple cleaning for me will do.

I also think it would be easier to clean the house if my flooring was made of tiles or hardwood. Unfortunately, only my kitchen floor is made of laminate flooring. The rest are carpeted, including the stairs. Thus I need the vacuum almost everyday to ensure that all the floors are clean.
If you're buying, I also suggest an inexpensive one.
Thanks.

It's bad enough that we need tp vacuum our carpets all of the time. Then we have to clean the vscuum cleaner on top of that. It is just an endless cycle of cleaning. It just doesn't seem right somehow.

Yeah! Tell me about it.
I have the same sentiments about the constant cleaning. This year I wanted to change the floorings to hardwood. I'm thinking that although it doesn't really eliminate the cleaning, it would lessen the vacuuming, and the cleaning of the vacuum.
Hopefully I would have enough time and resources to change the floor before the summet ends.
Thanks!

I hate cleaning vacuum cleaners so much that I use another vacuum cleaner just to clean it. jk. Yeah I hate it too, I don't even use it anymore unless I really, really, really have to. And that means about twice a year. For every day or weekly cleaning I just use broom and rags.

In my life I've never cleaned the vaccum. When I was younger my fathe cleaned it. And now I have a husband for that job.
