Is the Bible Truly the Word of God

I read discussions here and almost everywhere in society where indivivduals constantly refer to Bible as the final authority in matters of understanding life's issues. Many argue that the Bible is written by man and as such subject to man's imperfections. Others argue that the Bible was written by man but inspired by the Holy Spirit. The Bible is used by historians to search for historical and geographical data. Christianity has many religious branches and many of these choose to make differnt and conflicting interpretations of the Bible. What do you believe? How much faith do you have that the Bible is truly the word of god and not simply a tool used by man to control other men?

Aye. It is the Word of God.
Two points on this (there's more):
1. It's prophecies come to pass and,
2. It is powerfully life changing (for the better)
40 years (note that interesting number, 40) before it came tumbling down, Christ said the Temple would be completely destroyed. His waring about false Messiahs showing up after that is a reoccurring fulfillment, but there was a doosey around 150 BC. I forget the guy's name now.
In our time: No political / geographical Israel from after the destruction of the Temple and the dispersion of the Jews to May 1948. That's when Isa. 66:8 came to pass.
Life changing? Millions turned from sin by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Also, it's principles work.

When it comes to proof I am doubtful if it can be proven with absolute certainty. If it's there that's fine, but if absolute proof are not there still then I continue to trust Bible as God's word. Of course, the parameter to consider proof as authentic proof may depend upon individual. For example, one may say it's prophesied and it's fulfilled so it's proved. But the problem here is that similar thing will be there in other religion too. After the evil one is able to do that. So fulfillment is not really a proof as such that can give a knock down argument of other books too.

Absolutely the Bible is the inspired word of God written by man through the power of the holy spirit. No doubt about it! So often I hear that the Bible is not proven to be true. I say prove that it isn't true? I don't think anyone as to prove the Bible is true I think people need to prove the Bible isn't true. Of course it is easy for people to turn it around as saying we need to prove the Bible isn't true because if they said it any other way there would be nothing to prove. So to all the scientist out there go ahead knock yourselves out prove away. The sooner you do the sooner you will know that indeed the bible is indeed true, every word of it. In actual fact the Bible and Nature bare witness to and prove each other! The Bible confirms the world and the world confirms the bible. The two go together I guess you can say. I think it is funny now a days when you hear on the news something new that the scientist have discovered. New? Like when they anounced a few years ago that the world was expanding! Thats funny I didn't know that was new as I read that in the bible when I became a christian. Yes the Bible talks about the expansion of the Universe and so much more. As anyone done a search for bible facts or questions and answers on line?

The bible is most certainly not the word of god, and it has definitely never been proven as such, despite what some of these delusional Christians seem to be saying.
It's a collection of mythology and fables, written by many men, with certain parts removed and rewritten as was seen fit by the ruling classes over many centuries.

How can you say with certainty that it's not God's word? Because what is written by man can be inspired by God too. And in fact Bible does claim that it's written by men. Regarding removal and rewriting I don't think there is any instance as such. Can you mention one to substantiate your claim?
I agree that Bible has mythology and fables, depending on how define mythology and fables. For example, Nathan told a fable to confront David who was a king then when the latter committed adultery. But there are true stories too which form the narrative of the salvation history.

It was, before being manipulated by men. Only fanaticism believes it's God words. When the koran came to reform, not all believe. Thousand years since the revelation, the Koran has remained unmistakable as God promised in it.

Where do you have evidences that show that Bible is manipulated by men? I think fanaticism may not be the appropriate word. Don't you think so? Btw, how will you prove that Koran is as God promised it. Where was it first promised? Just curious.

Its been proven time and again. There is no doubt that its the word of God the Almighty. Even Moslems believe it. In the Koran, over 70% of the writings where contexted from the Bible only that some where twisted.
That aside, the BIBLE remains the True, Infallible and Undeniable Word of God.

... er, when has it been proven 'time and again'?
Nothing and no one has ever proven that the bible is the word of god.

I certainly believe that it is the word of God. I would say it's not just different denominations, but different individuals have different interpretations. But there are things of the Bible that all Christians agree. So grey areas are there; black and white things are there.

I truly believe the Bible is the Word of God. Yes, it is true that the Bible was written by humans, but I believe those human writers were inspired by God through the Holy Spirit. If we find errors in the Bible, those maybe are just typographical errors, but the context or the meaning of the writings still remains true and coherent. Imagine, how many writers wrote the Bible? Those writers existed not in the same generation but existed one after the other and in different places or locations from the other writers! How come they jived together in coherence? What miracle brought them together in coherence? That's why I believe it is the word of God. Only a supernatural force can create result like that, and if atheists argue that it is not the word of God and something like manufactured stuffs, think again.

My parents raised me up to believed and learned about God from the bible as a guide. so it paste my mind that bible is the world of GOD but only written by men. i want to share some verse in the bible that maybe help us to believe. well i don't insist. 2nd Peter chapter 1 verse 21; "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the holy Ghost. and also in 2nd timothy chapter 3 verse 16 and it said..."All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction for righteousness:" and during the time that there is no scientist to discover about the shape of the universe, shape of the earth, it is mentioned in the bible that the earth is circle. Isaiah chapter 40 verse 22, and it said..."It is that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers;that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in.". the bible is written in 2,300 languages, and this is written for about 1,600 years to finished, and the bible was written by different status of men, some are farmers, doctor, fishermen, judge, king prophet.they came from different years of their lives.

No it is not the direct word of God. Id advise seeking psychiatric help if this is what anyone truly believes. It was written by scribes many, many years ago. I see the bible as a sort of old school guide on how to live your life. Its of worth in that respect I guess. The creation of such a book was meant to help us live our lives in the best way we can. These people who believe it is the direct word of God are kind of nutty.
