Yes, tokwa and tofu are the same. It is made by coagulating soy milk like in the process of making "taho." It can be used as a meat substitute in many dishes and vegetarians also like tofu.
I like it stir fried with bits of pork mixed with vinegar, soy sauce, a bit of sugar and chili. Voila! Tokwa't baboy, a delicacy here in my country (Philippines). Yummy!
If you want, here's a simple recipe that you can try at home...
Buy some soft tofu (mapo tofu) and cut it into dice. Saute ground pork in garlic and onion. Add bell pepper and some oyster/hoisin sauce. Pour a bit of water then add the soft diced tofu. You can use chili garlic (Lee Kum Kee) or chili flakes if you want it spicy. Season to taste. Happy mylotting! :)

Like you am also a Filipino and one of my favorite foods (Filipino dishes) is "tokwa or tofu". This is made from soy beans and it is very nutritious on our health. As what they said it should be eaten to those people who has rheumatism, arthritis and those who has nerve problems because it has high value of protein. But I heard also from some other people it would be safe as long as the soy bean should be peel-off first before processing it..I don't know how true it is...Anyway,I miss it already (tokwa or tufu)...
Nice post...
Mobhomeir here...

Yes, tokwa is tofu. There are a lot of tofu in our local wet market. My family is not too fond of tofu there but she buys the one from the nearby grocery. I don't love tofu but I eat it when served.

In our place the magtataho(vendor of taho/soybean custard) sells the fresh tofu.It is best when cooked with pork and liquid seasoning like vinegar and soy sauce.

Yes, Tokwa is my favorite thing too. They are the same tokwa and tofu. You can do many things with tofu or tokwa. Can make casserole out of it, fried, scrambled, put it in salad and many other stuff. I really love tofu. It is a very good substitute for meat.

I just taste it once when my sister in law cooked a dish using tokwa and sad to say I don't want the taste of it. But I'm glad I taste it just for curiosity.
