First let i say i am only sixteen now and someone is going to come to teach me how to drive. I have been driving from I am very small. But this is the first time someone going to ensure I go through the proper procedure. A police man in fact is going to ensure of that. I really don't want to look like an idiot behind the wheels, because he heard I am experience at these things. Here are some of my problems: I keep on when going around a deep corner like pulling up into a yard or making a 90 degrees turn, I am always spinning the steering wheel too fast, my dad say i should slow down. Other problem: I drive manual before but not as much as automatic. I am going to be driving in a manual. I have been reading a drivers book and it is saying when gearing down I should just release gas, press clutch put gear into neutral, release clutch, press back gas, release gas again, press clutch again, put in required gear and release clutch and press gas. I have never seen people doing so much thing when gearing down. So is that the correct method or is there a simpler way? Some tips PLEASE!!!

It is hard to get the hang of all the different things you have to be aware of when driving a stick. You need to concentrate and practice. The instructions all sound right. Just remember to concentrate and practice in your head or in the car. Practice makes perfect. Takes time to perfect it all.

I went through the same thing. I think it is easier the younger you are too. Just take it a day at time and practice as much as you can.

I am starting to wonder how am I really going to do it when i keep aware of all my surroundings. And at the same time don't let other drivers intimidate me.

Changing gears properly, that is smoothly and effectively comes with practice and experience. When you depress the clutch you ease off the gas when you accelerate you ease out the clutch. To change gear, depress the clutch, release the gas AT THE SAME TIME select your gear and then disengage the clutch as you accelerate. The trick is not to ride the clutch because it will burn out very quickly. You need to get the feel for when the motor and the clutch plate speeds catch up with each other. To go round a corner, slow down (brake) clutch, in release gas, choose second gear, release clutch, accelerate.

My problem ain't really with changing gears. Its just gearing down. I hear of too many ways to gearing down. Which is the right way?

First and foremost, I am sure you are excited about the test because driving is an example to show that you have become responsible. Having said that you need to remain cool. No matter how much experienced we have, when it come for the driving test, we tend to make small errors. For your way to drive down hill is not correct. If you go with your way then the vehicle will accelerate in great speed and you will have difficult time to control the vehicle. You can go downhill in any gear except reverse if you are not pressing the clutch pedal. You don't have to change gear as the vehicle will already be in motion. I would suggest you to put the second gear for better control. You can press the clutch and control your vehicle with the brakes, releasing the gas or you can use the brake pedal only to go downhill releasing both the clutch pedal and the gas. I hope you are clear now. All the best for the test.

Here what mi a seh..I am experienced on driving manual... ur feet are gonna be like levers! 1 gear= gas, press clutch and ease off the gas n shift into nuetral followed by the 2nd gear and gas again! its that simple! But the cars i drive are fast so they have short shifters so i dont av to go to nuetral to go in another gear i jus go straight into it yuh zimmi! First u gotta master ur clutching...have fun!

You just aint understanding what i am saying. I know how to do that already. i know how to both upshift and down shift. What i am asking is it essential to double clutch downshift while taking a drivers test. That's all i want to know. Will they mark down if i don't double clutch? when i am driving a truck i double clutch downshift but i never saw it essential to do it while driving a car. But the drivers book say when down shifting you should double clutch. Just want to know if i have to do it. Cause i really cant bother to do it when driving a simple car. Dont have a problem doing it when driving a truck cause to me it goes into gears easier that way without struggling.

yeah i think your gonna mark you down for that because thats the easy way out...they normally mark you down for things that will cause accidents and corruption on the road...

oh i forgot gearing down now... ok first ease off the gas (brake if necessary),clutch then shift in watever gear u want to... if u wanna make a sudden stop just do the same with alot of brake but shift into nuetral here...this will ease the rev count........ dont follow mi my youth cuz i drive really fast n i'll get u killed!!
