Do you believe that once someone is an alcoholic / addict, they will always be one? or is it something that one can be rid of through time?
and if you believe its true with alocohol and drugs what about other addictions liek self harming, eating disorders, s*x addiction, gambling etc...or do you belive these are not addictions?

I believe any addiction can be beaten with motivation and determination. One needs to find something stronger than the addiction to overcome it. It's like two magnets stuck together, to pry them apart it takes a stronger force than the force of attraction. Here are a few strong forces: love of God, love of family, love of self, wanting to overcome the addiction, fear of damaging one's health or reputation, etc.
I have seen many overcome powerful addictions. Where there's a will, there's a way!

It's not impossible but it's likely they'll always be an addict if they don't do something about it. I'm an internet addict and will stay one until I find the will to do something about it. I am happy this way so it's unlikely I'll change.
Drinking is very hard to get over but can't make a proper comment on that since I've never been an addict but my uncle has been an addict for 15 years.
