How much would you pay for a hot dog?

They are reporting a restaurant in NY has invented a hot dog that will sell for $69. This is without tax and tips. This is definitely overboard. Are they crazy?

No matter how expensive any item might be, the quality can only be of a certain standard. As a hotdog in my experience is created from mechanically reformed products it can hardly be classed as a quality product. When you could probably have the top item on the menu at many restaurants, for less than this hot dog, it would be ludicrous to buy one. Unless you want to be able to tell your friends about the time you paid so much for a hot dog, I would recommend you give this a miss.

I have to assume that it's an appetizer for 10 or a meal for 3-6. Still, it's prohibitively expensive and I would never even consider buying it!! I would regard anyone who does as a fool and a spendthrift.
You could buy everything you need to make this hot dog on your own for under $20 probably and I'm just assuming that truffles and truffle butter are expensive. Still, big price for a nutritionally toxic piece of meat on bread!
They are not crazy, their customers are crazy. To spend $70 on something like this when you could spend $10 is insane. It must be that their egos are so huge and their self-esteem so low that they need to spend big money at highly visible places in order to validate themselves.

That is ridiculous. I would not pay anything to eat a hot dog, no matter how gourmet they try and make it. There is still no hiding the fact that it is chemical garbage on a plate. You would have to pay me to eat that I am afraid!

Considering the things they put in hot dogs, i'd say you'd be paying a big price just to put mystery meat in your mouth. For Pizza or Philly cheese steak, then i could understand...
