Do you write a letter by hand or by the computer?

If you write a letter to your friends, will you write it by hand or use the computer to write it and print it out? I always write a letter by hand because it seems to be nice, friendly and close to my friends. So I don't really like to receive a printed letter.

I used to write a letter to my friend using computer because I write better English with proper grammar. In the computer it show the error where as by hand I may write lots of mistakes which my friend may read the same mistake.

I like to hand write a letter as it is more personal, also that i have taken the time to write rather than type.If i have todo a letter to anyone i always write it as i think that is the proper aswell as the old fashioned way of doing things.I also prefer to get written letters as they are more personal ones.

I agree with you.

Yeah, I also think that with personal notes its always a lot better to do it by handm otherwise is gets that weird sterile business-type feel to it, and I guess noone really wants that on a birthday card lol.

I usually write it via keyboard but like you, when I know it is for the very important person I may write it by hand.... because you can just feel right away the sincerity of the sender when it is handwritten.... you can just feel the effort and care.... God bless and more power!

Hi, youless! I prefer by computer better because my handwriting is really terrible. I don't care the form of greeting from my friends. They remember to greet me, that's enough. And I can understand the feeling of guys who have a terrible handwriting, because I'm one of them.

Oh, I definitely like to receive letters written by hand itself but I myself avoid writing letters with hand. I don't have a good hand writing and I also do a lot of mistakes so I generally prefer typing my letter on pc and then take a print out.

I always write it by hand beacuse it seems more respect to that person you're writing too and it doesn't seem like you're lazy :)

I agree - it definitely has a better sort of aura to it if you've taken the time to write something by hand. And it's more personal :)

Sadly, it is the computer. My high school friends and I have been planning to send hand written letters to each other....but it hasn't been done yet. Time constraint...difficulty to go to the Post Office...email seems easier. Even more easier is sms....loooooong ones at that!

Hi youless, after having computer I haven't written any letter using pen and paper anymore. I know it's a great pleasure to receive letter from our friends from the postman. It's rather affability to read the expression from the familiar handwriting from our close friend as well. However, I am the type of lazy person and I prefer to send email by the most convenient and easy way to keep in touch with my loved ones and friends Anyway when my husband's elder sister asks me to write her a letter to her younger sister in another state I still have to write on the letter paper which she passes to me. my husband's fourth sister doesn't know how to operate computer. Moreover she and her husband don't own any computer as well. Take care and have a nice day

I have seen the photo you and your husband taking by the river site. I was the sixty ninth voter few days back. It's really nice to learn more about you I love to see couples with natural gesture. I won't waste my vote on the pictures taking or it's more suitable to say making in the photo shop which are not that natural and genuine. My husband like to keep in touch with his old colleagues living abroad with the traditional way, writing letter on blue letter papers. Happy posting!

I talk to a friend I met on the internet all the time on the computer, and we constantly IM back and forth, so when we came to the decision that we were going to send letters back and forth as well, we both wrote our letters out. We didn't decide that we were going to, we both just did. I'm glad that we wrote them out, because it was definitely a casual and very friendly thing, and it was refreshing to have something of hers that wasn't in text form. :]

I write letters to my friends in print actually. I am only sending them letter by hand if I am sending a greeting cards. And also I am not used in writing by hands because I dont have a good penmanship. My hand writing is really terrible that is why most of my assignments its all typed and printed out.

Well you are wrong, they actually mind my hand writing because sometimes they no longer understand it. Sometimes they gonna call me and asked me what did I write after this word or so.. And of course I could no longer remember, I will just told them that the thought of my letter is this and that. And they will say Ahhh ok..

I used to write my letters by hand. I would make a draft first and then rewrite it so that there will be no erasures on the final letter. I won't be wasting stationery that way. I don't write letters anymore. I don't even send greeting cards anymore, when before I sued to always send some to my family abroad. I just use email now. It's easier for me and also for the person I will send the letter to. I know it kind of makes communicating less personal. We won't have memorabilia (the actual letters) to look at when we want to reminisce about the past. But I think it's best to make correspondence paper-free. We will always have our memories and it's more friendly to the environment that way.

I remember in primary and secondary as well as tertiary education, my schools made it compulsory for us students to know how to write letters by hand. With Block style, Semi-Block style etc, and we are tested on format and stuff. However, as time passes, I don't think i have made use of this skill. Letter is sent most of the time online and therefore, it is by computer.

Hello youless Hand written letters have their own charm, if it is an official letter i compose that in my computer then print it, sign and send, but if it is to a friend, i always write by hand using good quality paper and send by post.. Thanks for sharing. Welcome always. Cheers. Professor

During my school time, I use to write letter by hand and post it in a traditional way where you need to paste a stamp on the envelop and post it, and it take few day to few weeks to reach the destination, but today I will like only write letter in the computer and send it out by e-mail. I have not use the traditional way of posting mail for years. But if I were to send a letter to a friend, I will use hand written letter instead of using computer and print it out, it is more friendly. But for a formal letter such as letter to a company, I will use computer to type and print it out. If use a had written letter to a company, it looks not formal and not serious.

Is a modern world I think we should use computer to write letters. To write in the papers firstly we are wasting our time and energy. If we use computer within a second we can send letter and we don't have to waste money.
