Naps

I don't take naps. It's not that I don't want to. It's just that no matter how tired I am, I can't ever seem to fall asleep during the day. I certainly never used to be that way. Do you take naps? Tonight was an exception for me. After a long, somewhat stressful day, I couldn't seem to keep my eyes open. I laid down at 6pm, thinking I'd catch a 30 minute cat nap. Well, I woke up at 10pm. So now, I'm up late. I guess that is a pitfall of taking a nap later in the day, but like I said, I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer.

I used to be like you, unable to take a nap during the day although lately I don’t seem to have a problem with it all! In fact I’m sure that I could sleep anywhere at any time these days! The problem I have with afternoon naps is that when I wake up I feel terrible for the first five to ten minutes, after that I start feeling rested but I hate it when I first awake!

I just fell asleep in my chair in front of the computer for about 10 minutes. And even though I kept tilting to one side I kept straightening up and kept on sleeping. I guess it's one of my talents. That's why I don't go to bed to take the nap. I might sleep too long and then can't sleep at night. I don't take a nap every day only once in a while when I'm just too tired.

When I watch TV, I sometimes sit in a rocking chair. It is very old - at least 100 years - sometimes I fall asleep there and if I am really tired, I can sleep rather long. A hundred years ago they obviously knew how to build a comfortable chair..

hi AmbiePam I am also like that. I will have a bad night and think well after breakfast I am going to come u p here and take a nap before getting caught on the net. then I just lie there, tired and sleepy even but not falling asleep.I am glad that you did get some sleep although it might mess up your nights sleep.I have a roomie who seems to be getting senile dementia and sleeps most of the day so then w hen I want to sleep at night like normal people she is up and down, she turns on t he bathroom light and leaves the door open so the light floods our room and wakes me up. I went to bed at ten hoping to really get some sleep for a change. At eleven and twelve and two oclock she wakes me up. so I finally get to sleep and wake and its just fifteen minutes to six and I have to get up at six here. dont ask why as I have no idea.,we are to be at the dining tables at seven and often its almost 8 before we actually get served. so I am not getting even seven hours of sleep.

I usually nap on a Sunday afternoon but I have to put on a sleep mask to get rid of the light.I do like the naps though as sometimes (like now) I wake up at 2am and it is so hard to get back to sleep. Have you tried a sleep mask? It just may help you so try it. Blessings

I should get one. Maybe one that has aromatherapy, something to make me more relaxed.

I have never been a person to take naps. I know babies and small children need naps to help with their development. I just never saw the use for taking a nap when I could be doing something useful with my time.

Sometimes getting a nap lets a person do the things they have to do, more efficiently. Because they aren't tired or lethargic.

Hi Amber. Nope, I haven't taken any naps recently. I just can't seem to find the time! LOL I think it was sometime last year when I took a nap last. Hubby was kind enough to help out with the kids so I could catch up some much needed sleep. Happy mylotting!

I don't normally take naps either but if I were to lay down on the couch and watch TV it wouldn't take me very long to fall asleep. Something about the TV seems to help me sleep and sometimes those naps are the best sleep I've had in weeks. I am a very poor sleeper so when I get to nap it feels good.

If I'm going on a few hours of sleep deprivation, and if I can on the weekend, I definitely take naps. I don't have a problem falling asleep at all.

Undoubtedly a lot of people here on mylot have an opinion about naps . I like to take naps from time to time but our schedule now, If I were to take a nap it would probably ruin our schedule. We're up at night, I actually find while I might be sleepy before the sun sets, when it does I am not that sleepy any more and am wide awake, but at the same time there are times if I lay down on the bed I'd better not for long because I'll be trying to sleep. I like naps, they're fun to take. We don't usually take a late nap unless we've been gone all day and hadn't slept since the day before, then we sleep for a few hours and get up.

Hi Amber! I am so messed up with my body clock at this point that I don't know what to call my days or nights anymore! I am usually up all night, sleep until almost 3PM and am so confused because then I have to think about if it is getting to be night or what. Tonight about 6:30PM I was mylotting and I had to stop and think if was getting later or was it morning! Now you know I'm all screwed up! When I get up too early and I decide to take a nap I always used to feel worse when I got up. I feel like I should just stay there sleeping and hope that I will sleep all night because I know if I get up I am going to be up all night again. It is now 1:00AM and I am going to try to go to bed early and hopefully be able to read the end of the book I'm reading and sleep because I need to get out early to do some errands with Lonnie before it gets too hot! It's going to be another of those high in the 90's with high humidity index and we are walking to the grocery store and it is quite a hike! It doesn't bother him, but he's 11 years younger than me!

It was actually a little less hot and humid here yesterday. Hopefully, you'll get a respite too.

I don't like taking naps. It usually makes me have a hard time sleeping at night. The only time i nap during the day is when I am feeling bad.

Naps are some of the greatest things in the world to do. They are so amazing. They relax you and you can gain all the energy you need to do whatever when you are done with them! I wish napping could happen all the time!

I do take naps. I don't know why but I feel lethargic most of the time. Just lay down a while and I'm already in dreamland. Maybe my metabolism rate is too high :(

I take naps, but not because I want to, I do it because I get so tired that I just feel like I have to sleep. My body just shuts down in the middle of the day and sleep is all that I can think about.

Taking naps for me is completely out of the question. I have tried and then I wake up with a major headache. Some people like my boyfriend have to take naps which I find odd, but then everyone is different.

Yes I take naps. I have health problems and sometimes I get so tired I can't stay awake at all. A typical nap for me is about two hours long. I don't feel rested at all if it is any less than that.
