There is an ordinance approved by the city government of our place about anti jaywalking. For us city dwellers, we are all aware about this. It is a pity on those who seldom visit the city, those who come from far places outside the region, that they are usually the victims of jaywalking. The penalty for jaywalking in our city is P250 and if you cannot pay it, you are made to sweep the street. This morning, I saw three beautiful ladies who were caught by the traffic enforcement for jaywalking. The three were hesitant to pay that they decided to sweep the street.

dorisday yes there is a penalty here in California for jaywalking across super busy streets, two hundred dollars. Know why, because California drivers drive way too fast and almost every other day we read of people jay walking on busy streets who are hit and killed by one or sometimes three cars.no its too dangerous. there are cross walks.I have no sympathy for those who refuse to obey jaywalking laws. use the damned crosswalks.the drivers do not care about pedestrians so pedestrians should care about their own safety.

Here in the UK I believe there is still a law against it, but I'd be very, very surprised if it's ever actually implemented, mainly for terms of practicality, because it must be a fiendishly difficult thing to book somebody for. Nevertheless, I think the fact that the law exists in the first place makes peole perhaps think twice about doing, because of the potential disruption to traffic and whatever. Some real craziness going on there.

Yes since we're living on the same country we're not exempted on it. I had a memorable experience that I would never forget it as long as I live. We were caught on "jaywalking" before with my former girlfriend. We never thought there was a traffic enforcer on that street because it was already at the uptown part of the city. It was so disgusting at the middle of lots of people around you. Felt like the whole building beside us slowly collapsing us while talking with the officer. From that time I got phobia already when crossing pedestrial lanes... Mobhomeir here...

We have a saying here, "Let the punishment fit the crime." I think this is a very good example of this saying and I wish it was followed more when crimes are committed.
