So sure yours is the only possible truth? Others here, myself included, have had lucid dreams. If it never happens for you, then too bad. But I know it's possible, & if you read the other responses, you'll see that there are other people here who do it!

I don't think people have control over their dreams. People can still control their day dreams. I like day dreams and I like to control it. Sometimes I am carzy about day dreams. Sometimes I like to dream about unexpected and sad things that may come up in life. I also daydream a lot about good things that I wish to happen in my life.

I used to do that all the time... But please! stop daydreaming of sad things that may come up. I used to do that too every night, so when it doesn't happen I will be happy. It turned out bad... I became pessimistic and had bad consequences. Believe me it's not worth doing it in the long run!

Where exactly did you read about it? I seriously doubt we can control our dreams. But wouldn't it be really wicked if we could? :)

No i don't think anyone can control dreams. They are just born out of our imagination and they die after we get up and it's very hard to remember how it started or how it ended. But we can just remember that we had dreamt about this before when we came across it somewhere previously. That's just how dreams are meant to be i guess.

I believe that you can control your dreams, i guess you can't choose what to dream with but you have free will in your dreams, and so many times have happened to me when i was dreaming and knew that i was doing so and didn't wake up, and other times that a dream is so good that you wake up and than i wanted to get back to it, i fell asleep again and continued with the same dream, so yeah in that way i think it can be controlled, and other people believe that if before you sleep you think a lot about something that you end up dreaming about it, i tried that and honestly i didn't dream with what i had thought

I don't know if that will be considered as controlling it. But I still want to do what the poster above said. I wanna ZAP zombies in my dreams using laser beams coming out from my palms!

We can control our dreams only in certain states - it's called lucid dreaming. The idea is in the moments right before you completely wake up, you're still asleep but you're aware that you're still asleep so you can think that "oh this a dream, I can do what I want here". there are tons of how to guides on lucid dreaming. I never tried them but I know it works 'cause I often have that feeling before waking up that I'm asleep but conscious enough to know it.

That happens to me, but not just before waking. Rather the opposite, in fact. I explain more fully further on in this discussion. I usually have 3 to 6 dreams on the average night. Or, more accurately, I start dreaming, & at some point, if I hit a place where I realize I'm dreaming, I play with it, then eventually segue into the next dream, & may or may not hit a lucid moment thereafter.
Just my tuppence.

We can't even remember MOST of it. We dream 4-7 times a night. So it's 28-49 a week! I can't even remember 2 dreams a week

It is actually possible to control your dreams. You'll just have to realize that you are dreaming, its called lucid dreaming. Once you've realize that, you can experiment with different kinds of things to do in your dream like flying. I've flew in my dreams before. I've even flew in a nightmare when there were zombies chasing me. I don't know why some people are finding it hard to control their dreams and says its impossible. The only thing is, that if you concentrate to hard to make something happen (e.g shooting an energy beam from your hand) in you dream you'll just end up waking up and if you think something horrible is going to happen while lucid dreaming, e.g a zombie is gonna be behind a door (like what I've experienced), ITS GOING TO HAPPEN because you are the one who controls it.

Yes, I play a lot of Resident Evil games recently, maybe that's why I can picture zombies in such details in my dream but I've never been able to zap one though just never really tried to face them just thinking about running away, maybe next time. I guess games really do influence your mind. lol

Wow, it will be wonderful if we can control our dreams.
Then, I will only opt for sweet dreams that bring happiness
and smile on my face. Having wonderful dreams make us happy
during our day
Maybe there is a way that we can sort of control our dream to
a certain degree. Most of our dreams are related to our thoughts
and occurrences during the day. Have you watch the movie 'Inception'?
It has 4 layers of dreams and basically they control the dreams to a
certain level.

I don't see how it is possible to control our dreams. If we could, then people would not have nightmares. Dresams are locked away in our minds as we sleep. We can not control what goes through our minds as we sleep. Just imagine if we could!

What are Dresams? Maybe, just maybe, if we know how to, then we could??

Hmmm... I have read a lot of these too before as I was so interested in wicca and magic. I am not sure if I have experienced this already but sometimes when I dream of something and I know that I have to wake up but I want to continue what I am dreaming of, it's like I suddenly take charge of being in the dream and concentrate on the next scene. In that case, I am able to continue the dream but not necessarily control it.

I do that too, but it's more like daydreaming until you fall asleep... And I DID wicca too!

Wow you did wicca? Have you studied it? What have you done in relation to Wicca? I can only get as far as being interested and I do some reading, that's all. Do you think spells and that sort of stuff really works?

Yes sometimes you can control your dreams...I know it sounds far fetched but it happens!...when I have a nightmare I know I should wake up! and I make myself to do so...on the other hand I can stay calm and say to myself do not worry is not real[still scare the hell out of me]do you know when you dream your body is actually paralised? you can not move and that is very scary...in my life I have come to terms with my dreams....sometimes it can actually be funny...I remember once having a dream going to this place and when I saw where I was going I said I Am not going there it was raining yesterday...so that was the end of the dream!
Any way some people may think Im not normal? but who is normal anyway? at the end of the day I live by my own experiences[no science here] just me...just a human person who have lived for quite some time and got a lot to share to whom ever want to ask.

No, it's not just daydreaming. It's called "Lucid Dreaming". Have you ever had a dream where you actually realized you were dreaming? That's a lucid dream. The next level of lucid dreaming beyond actually becoming aware that you are dreaming is to control your dream. I've had lucid dreams before, and yes I have been able to control some aspects of my dreams. There are even better lucid dreamers who can control almost everything in their dreams.
Lucid dreaming is actually a kink in the whole "dreams come from sub conscious mind" theory. (Yes, that is a theory. It's not proven. No one really knows the true reason we dream or where dreams come from or if they actually have symbolic meaning... etc.) When you lucid dream... your conscious mind is awake and can change or control aspects of your dream sometimes.

I can...:D haha... But when I wake up my head is pain...:D I really don't like controlling my dreams, I do them unintentionally when I am half - conscious. Sometimes I do it intentionally, but it's a pain...:D

Yep...:D Probably or probably not...:D It's like I know I'm dreaming and I change the events that occurs...:D When I do it intentionally, instead of getting rest I exhaust myself - that's why its a pain. Can't really explain. Haha...

Yes, there is such a thing. It's called "Lucid Dream" wherein you are aware that you are in a dream state. And can control what could happen in that certain dream. Hope that helps.
