for me i will prefer to encode rather than to handwriting,it because its more presentable if we use to encode and aside from that its more faster to make a sentence or a paragraph when we encode rather than in writing,so i always prefer to encode and not to hand writing.

most teachers usually require outputs encoded. that's why students students should have that savvy in computers. or else one will be left behind.

That depends on the situation. Mostly whether I have a device I can use for encoding (laptop) or not. Encoding via PDA or smarthphone is too tedious a task so I do it only when I need a digital copy of what I write. I think school lecture notes with diagrams and pictures and such will be hard to encode digitally - that's why I suppose notebooks and pens in schools will never be really gone in the next decade (besides, more than 80% of the world's students still don't have the luxury of their own laptop). Article-writing is definitely best done digitally encoded using a word processor with undo, delete, copy, paste functions (and a handy thesaurus and spell/grammar-checker too). From time to time I still write letters and journal entries with my trusty pen. I wouldn't be forced to buy a digital post-it note: there's still something about the feel of pen and ink on bright sticky post-it notes I leave all over the office cubicle and fridge :p

that's right.notebooks and jotting down can never be replaced by digital pads and pens.it's just that it's the most often things i do except for diagrams of course.

I think I can type faster than writing by hand but, I still do practice my hand writing, particularly, my cursive hand writing since I still do get to use it every now and then, it would be nice if others could still understand my hand writing even if I don't write too much compared to when I was still a student.
Yes, encoding is much more easier and efficient, especially when it concerns documents that really needs to be presentable and readable yet, I always try to keep both my of that in check so that if any situation calls for it, I am not hesitant and always ready.

Encoding. I really don't find myself writing these days anymore, except when I have to make manual withdrawals in my bank, going into legal transactions, doing the family budget or teaching my toddler how to write. We are currently living in a world of technology when most transactions are already automated. We rarely write anything on paper at work anymore except when I have to put on my signature on my vacation leave form. LOL
