I think it was after thirteen years old that I started sleeping in my own room, actually after four years old I started sleeping next to my sisters in a room, we are among four sisters and we had two rooms for us, so two in a room and the other two in another room, so it was always fun when we would talk till late at night, then one got married and we were left three, then I got a bed alone in that room only, then again the other got married and finally I got a room all alone for me. I used to get real afraid in darkness and till today I have to keep a lamp next to me.

I remember I started sleeping on my own when I was 7, that was my birthday request to my Mom and Dad which they certainly agreed. At first it's quite scary because I feel like people from the outside my room will left me totally alone, but then I learned to deal with it.

I was four years old when I began sleeping alone because my mother used to work all of the time, so I had to learn to get used to sleeping by myself at an early age.

Hi abj,
First of all I really like your discussion. I was sleep alone when I was 6 years old. My parents too was dissagree with me, but they always support all my ideas and they give me a chance. At that night I was so scared, because outside was big storm with lightning and thunder. It was terrible, because I was scared from lightning. I was run to my parents bed and sleep there for two days, but then I ask my parents the same question can I sleep alone? They allow It and that night was so nice I had a free feeling and other emotions. Take care, Have a nice day

Honestly I cannot remember when I started to sleep alone at home. I have 5 siblings and it is almost impossible to sleep alone in a house with only 4 bedrooms. Usually I would share a room with my brother and, 2 of my other brothers would share another room and my sister would have a room all to herself. I don't remember ever sleeping alone at home.
Only when I am staying in the dorms, only then I would sleep alone. Sometimes not at all because I would a roommate. This doesn't bother me at all though

I've always slept alone. But there were times when I was young when I was terrified of the dark and was scared that aliens were after me after watching stupid documentories. I was also scared that my toys would come alive and strangle me so I kept them out of my room when I slept. Even today sometimes I freak out after having watched some creepy movie lol. I'm 18 now so that's embarrassing.

Hah, I never have slept alone!
Till my teen age I was sleeping in one bed with my mother, because we haven't two beds. And then I got boyfriends, one after another. Now I'm sleeping with my husband.
Only time when I sleep alone is daytime, if such opportunity has given.

Hmmm... I started having my own room at the age of 6. When we moved, the house had 4 rooms: parents room, sister's room, my room, and my younger brother's room. My sister didn't want to share rooms back then since she wanted to have some privacy. My brother preferred to sleep with my parents. So, I forced and trained myself to sleep alone. At first I was scared, I told my father never to leave not until I was asleep.

Well I started sleeping by myself only when my brother moved back to India and that was when i was 17 (last year) The most terrifying thing was that I was afraid of the dark(a lil bit now as well) but obviously sleeping alone has got rid of my fear of the night althoo my noisy neghbours spook me sometime i feel ghosts are talking at night and then i have to dump my head under the blanket and plug in my ipod earphones and close my eyes tightly

hi abj here in the United states we sleep in cribs as babies, in junior beds as toddlers, and in regular beds as teens and adults. we never sleep with parents as the medical profession knows its unsafe for b abies and
toddlers to sleep in same bed with big adults, more kids are partly suffocated. So here I was like all the rest, I never ever slept in my parents bed nor did I want to. that is just not our custom. We all have
our different customs, abj. I am not saying its right or wrong either but for small babies our doctors say no put them in their own cribs.[

i guess it depends if they have enough room for their children to sleep alone, like what if they have 4 kids and they only have 2 rooms then of course it will not be possible right? unless they only have 1 child and 2 rooms so the child can occupy the other room. in my case we have 4 rooms and 8 siblings but since im the youngest, me and my brother are the only two left from the rest coz my other siblings are already got married and need to stay away from us to work and study in the city. i take the other room and the other one for my brother. so i started taking my own room when im already in high school coz they are all gone already.

You might laugh at me cause I started sleeping alone at mid 20's. The reason is that I don't have my own room, me and my sister waited for our two older sister to move out before we occupied their room. When my sister moved out too, that's the time I sleep alone in the room. At first I was scared but then I got used to it.

I started sleeping alone at night at the age of about 12 years. I also now have my personal room and my activities don't disturb other members of our family. Its also good to have privacy(if needed) and the convenience is also good.
Now I have been sleeping alone for 6 or 7 years. I was also a little scared at first but I got used to it.

I started to sleep alone when i was 5. That was when my mom left to work abroad. I don't have siblings to share my room so i learned to sleep alone.
