Is 2012 true?

2012 is near and according to some writings that is the end of the world. For me life will not end on 2012, the world will remain the same.

I don't think the 2012 thing is true. No one really knows when the end of the world is going to be. What would be the point of knowing anyway? It's not like we can prepare for it because there's no way to live through whatever is supposed to happen. Even if it was true...people would keep living their lives up until that point. Either way, I don't think anyone knows when the end will be.
