Dashing Cody Rhodes - Liking The New Gimmick?

Cody Rhodes has had a recent gimmick change, as he is now Dashing Cody Rhodes. With this change, he has gotten a new theme song, entrance video, and his jacket that once said "Uncommon" on the back of the collar now says "Dashing". His entrance consists of him coming out and staring into a digital mirror, as his face appears on the screen next to the mirror. In addition, he has recently started a new segment on Smackdown called where he gives grooming tips.
So I was wondering, how do fellow fans of Cody like his new gimmick so far? I became a fan of Cody while he was still in the Legacy on WWE Raw. So it was different to see him doing a gimmick like this, but I still wanted to give it a chance. I would have to say that I personally like the gimmick so far. Watching him in the Legacy, I never imagined Cody doing the "Pretty Boy" type gimmick (not sure what else to call it), but I think he's been doing a good job with it so far. I cannot wait to see where it takes him.
But I was just wondering how other fans felt. :)

Im on the fence with it..It kind of reminds me of Ravishing Rick Rude (RIP). Maybe they are just recycling the idea in a way. I mean its totally different image for him than he had before and I think he pulls it off well but could there be something better for him and is this actually going to get him somewhere. If this really is his push than he should now be in competition for the IC belt.

I'm still giving it a little bit of time, since it's still fresh. But I have been enjoying it so far. It's better than when he was first drafted on SD & then barely used on the show (although he was on WWE Superstars and is a pro on WWE NXT). I wouldn't mind seeing Cody in the competition for the IC championship. I'd also like to see him established in an actual feud with someone, so hopefully that will happen soon.

I think its that I would have rather seen him as a face but this gimmick is really giving him off as a heel. We already saw him as a heel in legacy and it really looked like he was going to turn face at the end but that never happened. But like you said its just great to see him at least going somewhere on his own and we just really have to give this time and see what the writers come up with for the character.

Oh I wouldn't mind seeing a face turn down the road sometime either, & I think he'd make a good face. He can still do the dashing gimmick while being face (Shawn Michaels pulled off the "Pretty Boy" gimmick as a face, though nobody compares to him for me lol, but he's just an example). Maybe once he gets a bigger push, the writers will decide to give Cody a face turn. I think he's going to do great as a singles competitor, and I can't wait to see what he does next.
Yeah, I thought a few times during his Legacy run he was going to make a face turn, same with Ted DiBiase Jr. He probably could've pulled it off at the end, especially with Ted leaving him high and dry at their last few house shows together (I heard that from reports, that Ted walked off and left Cody out there).
Of course, for the above reason alone, I would have also liked to have seen a Cody vs. Ted feud before they drafted Cody over to Smackdown. It'd be interesting if they were on the same show now. The Fortunate Son vs. The Dashing One lol.

I do like his entrance but only time will tell if this gimmick will be something that will hold for the long term. He's nowhere as near as charismatic as his father is, but he's really coming into his own. Then again, with Dusty Rhodes, he always had that ability to really capture your attention, even if half of the time, it might been a bit unclear of what he was saying. There are a lot of wrestlers these days who speak clearly in perfect English, but I could not really care less.
Still, at least Cody Rhodes is trying to be a bit different and stand outside the pack. Hopefully this might mean big things. He's no longer generic Developmental call up anymore, who just happens to have a famous father. With Rhodes and DiBiase, I thought that Rhodes would be the Marty Jannetty of the team but I'm wondering if its the other way around, as DiBiase really isn't catching on as much as I would have thought. Still it should be interesting. I think "Dashing" Cody Rhodes could become Intercontinental Champion down the road at the very least.

I didn't see much of Dusty growing up, I didn't become hooked until 1996 & I mainly watched the WWE [WWF]. But I loved his speech at the HOF, & that certainly held my attention.
I've noticed him coming out into his own, didn't expect it to be with this type of gimmick, but I think he's been pulling it off well lately. And the fact that a lot of girls, including myself, adore him (that's not WHY I like him tho lol, I think he's a good wrestler), it seems to work with the whole "Dashing" thing IMO.
I think both Ted & Cody will do well with their single runs. It looks like Ted is going to be feuding with John Morrison (I hope, I'd like to see him in a feud). And I'm hoping to see Cody in an actual feud too. I'm giving both of them time, as the Legacy only officially broke up a few months ago. But I'm hoping to see big things from both Cody & Ted.
I'd like to see Cody as the IC Champ. Maybe Heavyweight Champ someday, but not yet - let him grow more & not rush it. But IC Champ is a good start.
Sorry if my response didn't make much sense, I'm multitasking lol.
