I have been doing a lot of crafts for the same reason. I have been so stressed out lately that doing crafts has helped me out a lot. I am already starting to make my Christmas items so I can sell them online. I am trying to still decide on how much to sell each item where to sell. I know I want to do esty, but I am also thinking of creating my own web site. How hard would it be to create my own web site?

There is actually a research study being conducted on knitting, and cross stitching's affects on depression and chronic pain. They are trying to prove that developing these types of hobbies helps treat depression and chronic pain. I would love to see therapy that entailed helping people feel better by cultivating these hobbies, we could help people who feel non-productive become productive and if they didn't want make things for themselves then they could make things for charities.

thankyou for your response., this is actually the kind of thing that interests me, to achieve something no matter how small can change how a person feels in themselves., feeling use ful and part of something up lifts people and helps healing in may different areas.,
i look forward to seeing the results on this too as i reckon it will along the same line as those who have pets and stroke them., feeling loved in return therefore useful
thanks again
best wishes

yes., i agree, but find crafting stressing only when some kind of performance or others deadlines are involved... like you i like to take my time, as then it is not only beneficial to me., but the crafted item seems to flow better..
enjoy your peaceful crafting time
thankyou for your response
best wishes

Hi Artizan, I think this is a great idea as you said in a previous response they get children to draw things out to express the hurt they are feeling and see no reason why that cannot be extened to the adult population too. Even when I was in hospital years ago bedridden I was able to draw and do jigsaw puzzles which helped keep me occupied whilst immobile so can be used in so many areas of life. Some will use it as an escape rather than a healing but even if that is all they need at the time to do then I guess in a way that is a healing too eh! Good luck with your venture there is nothing more rewarding than teaching someone how to release their own creativity and at the same time heal themselves from past hurts and be able to move on in life. Go for it. Huggles. Ellie :D

hi ellie
thats wonderful encouragement from experience... i just thing creative abilities connect to the inner and brings all kind of releases no matter who we are or how old we are., perhaps some will see this as spiritual connection to our creator, others will call it soul, the connection is deep and oft times not that easy to put into words.,
thankyou for your response
best wishes

When life knocks you down and beats you up, your self esteem suffers immensely. Exercising your creativity is a very good way to rebuild your self esteem and to take your mind out of that dark place into light and beauty. Yes you can take art therapy, and working with a group can be beneficial, but working alone allows you time to get away from the outside world and go within to recreate yourself.
Keep on making beautiful things. Teach other to make beautiful things. Sharing something good is also good therapy.

i wasnt thinking of taking art therapy as the blessings i received as you said allowed me the time to recreate my life possibilities... but was thinking on the lines of sharing these positive experiences...

Hi artizan
I think that if creating something helps you to heal then it surely has to be a good thing. If you are enjoying it and it allows you to escape lifes knocks and bumps that is great and if you can teach others then that really is fantastic!

hello humbug
yes indeed and thankyou for your comment, but was taking this outside of myself, because rather than escape it helped me resolve past situations. I watched something on tv that when children who had been hurt in many ways, where given the oportunity to express themselves creatively, they where able to get the bad stuff that had happened to them out, and made a recovery, which made me really think about what i had experienced in receiving from my own creativity the resolution of lifes situations, and therefore was looking to expand what had happened for me to others, like creative kind of councelling.. what do you think ?
thankyou for your response :)
