Dont you think so? I do. It is probably their most acclaimed album..But for me, I find it contrived and kind of stale. Of course, my ears were not around in the late 60's..They werent around to hear how ground breaking this sound must have been at that time. I dont know..It just doesnt sit right with me. There are only a couple of stand out songs on the album. I say its contrived because The Beatles had to force themselves to sound really "psychedelic". I heard and read that they sat in while Pink Floyd were making Piper at the gates of dawn...Pink Floydm a band that were effortlessly psychedelic...The Beatles clearly "borrowed" a lot of ideas from them.

I don't know if Sgt. Peppers was quite the impact as the Moody Blues "Days of Future Past" (Nights in White Satin, Tuesday Afternoon) was.
I agree that the only Beatle that seemed to have the "knack" for the sound was George Harrison. Not that John or Paul weren't great music writers, John was the lyric man and Paul the music, but I do agree that very few of their songs (with the exception of Lucy in the Sky) got that sound, and without George's Sitar it wouldn't have had that much...
