Arsene Wenger is in negotiations with Werder Bremen for a 10 million pound move for Per Mertasacker to resolve his defensive woes. Mertasacker would be great acquisition for the Gunners defense especially after the likes of Gallas, Sanderos and Sol Campbell have all left the club!!
What are your views on this?
Cheers!

Senderos, Sol Campbell did not play or get chances from the beginning in most of the matches last season. But Gallas was the heart of central defense. How many times he saves Arsenal last year which is uncountable. So, after the exit of those players Wenger must need some experienced defense line up.

Per Mertesacker has always been a possible target for Wenger but now it is simply essential that Wenger gets his man to plug the hole left by Campbell. If reports are to be believed then chief executive Ivan Gazidis is hoping to wrap up a deal in the next 48 hours. If by any chance the deal falls through then Arsenal will turn their attention to either Ajax’s Jan Vertonghen or Dynamo Kiev’s Senegalese defender Pape Diakhate.

ram_cv,
Arsenal really need to build up its defense this season as it was really agonizing to see them loose out during vital stages of the game.
Werder Breman's Mertasacker may not be the full solution, but at least it would bolster up the team's defense. I wonder if Bremen will eventually release him, so let's wait and see.
