I'm watching a movie by Jennifer Aniston called picture perfect, it was filmed back in the 90's i guess because it's pretty old. And I can proudly say that it's 95% similar to The Proposal, by Sandra Bullock. In both movies, they both forced a guy to be their fake fiance, brought him to get to know the family and broke the their engangement in the end, knowing that they are little by little falling in love with each other. So cutteeee!!!

Happens all the time in literature, movies, etc. Lion King=Hamlet, Aliens=Avatar, Avatar=Pocahontas, the list goes on and on. Pretty much every "chick flick" or romance comedy follows the same plot: girl meets boy, girl and boy start dating and really get to like each other, girl and boy have a conflict that separates them, girl and boy get back together. Hollywood is very predictable.

That storyline has been doing the rounds in one form or another since at least the 60s and probably before. If you ever watch The Wedding Date it runs on the same idea as Picture Perfect with a woman hiring a guy to pretend to be her boyfriend so that she can make someone else jealous.

I remember renting that movie! I liked it. I didn't find it so similar to The Proposal though. My percentage of it being like The Proposal would be about 20%. The reason for the fake fiance was different, as was the environment, but who really cares, right? It was a really good movie. Even if it wasn't very popular.
