was it bringing not so good memories for you? or is it just the time of the year when everything else seems gloomy because we are nearing august? hehe
hey cheer up!
baguio is still a nice place to visit. although one can say the beauty has diminished and the place has been too crowded over the years. maybe that's what's making you feel sad about it. this time of the year, not much festivities going on unlike christmas or february during the flower festival or during summer.
back in my student years, my friends and i used to travel manila-banawe-batad-sagada-baguio-manila route to take our minds off studies and to recharge. if you are into nature and not so much on the crowd, try to include batad and sagada in your itinerary when you visit baguio. it's a little different atmosphere.

No it doesn't bring bad memories to me. Infact all my memories there are good! But just thinking of the place, the fog, the atmosphere, the smell of the pines, makes me feel sad.. Did you know it was featured in 'lonely planet'? But that was years ago.

then perhaps it's that time of the year... or the fact that you have good memories there and you are where right now? right... not there. hehe stressed or busy perhaps and you want to take a vacation? hehe jk
i must have seen it but yeah probably several years ago. i could just imagine that in order to develop a place and commercialize it, many tribes must have lost ancestral lands and homes to accommodate the changes. and that... is awfully sad.

Baguio holds a lot of special memories for me and when I was in the midst of my depression, I headed for Baguio in order to sort off my mind. I liked the place because I can walk with no particular destination in mind without worrying about getting mugged or run over. I do hope to visit again soon, and yes, it is a lonely place for lonely people.

Well, this time of the year, Baguio is gloomy. With the rain and cold temperature, you can not do much but stay indoor and reminisce of sad memories. But comes summer and everything sprung to life and happy activities.
In another way, if you are from the Cordillera like me, you will feel a bit sad of the unregulated development of the area. I miss the pine-covered mountains and the leisure walk in the roads without being squeezed by other pedestrians. I wish the pine tree planting projects in the city will be successful and for the city government to make regulations that will eventually stop the cutting of pine trees.

Baguio is a great place damned_dle. You should have traveled there with your love ones. I think Baguio has a lot to offer. Probably you were expecting much more night life which Baguio I think does not offer a lot. Baguio just have a few bars and discos where you can spend the night. I don't know why you feel that way to such a great place.

Maybe because you were in Baguio for a wrong reason. Maybe you remember baguio because of such reasons. Baguio is gloomy at some point but its far interesting than any other place. I tell you that because I have been to places where it's sunny and bright but really a very sad place. Try to comeback and see it again. It may help you.

No it is not that. I really like the place. I think it is because of the weather and how comfortable it is to be there that is making me sad.

Maybe because of its weather, specially during this time of the year. But you know what, Baguio is my favorite place for relaxation. I normally go there every November. During this time, lean season, there are few tourists in the city. My last visit was November last year and we stayed at Hotel Elizabeth just outside the city. A perfect place for those who wants to be away from their busy life. It was after typhoon Ondoy and most of the hotels and inns dropped their prices. Went to Starbucks @ SM Baguio for three straight afternoon to watch the sunset. It was awesome.

baguio is a great place for vacation, to relax and to calm your mind, i love it there. though same as you, it reminds me of sadness coz we used to stay there with my ex before and we used to be happy we even wish for a baby in the cathedral but he left me when i was 3 months pregnant. i still love the place and will bring the baby there to thank god for the lovely gift. though i still hope everything will be fine.

Baguio is a great place. When are there it seems that you are out of the country because of its breathtaking scenery, the climate of course, the culture the place has, and the people. Even though it is such a small place you can feel the attraction it has on people. There you can see a lot of people from different folks of life, even foreigners appreciated the place.
But as you said, maybe you thought of that place as too lonely one, because of it's cold climate. It is really lonely to be on such a place alone.
