Which names do you prefer for naming your kids? Common / Popular names or the Unique / unusual names? Why?
I love unique names so the name my child goes by will never or very rarely be the name of another kid. My son will never be one or several kids with his name in a class at school or such.
My son's first name is after a popular holly wood actor. W name t before him because my husband and I really loves almost of his movie but his middle name is unique. You maybe haven't heard one like this before.
How about you mylotters?

I love unique names. My names Shannon. Only for a few months did I ever have another Shannon in my grade in school. There were two Shannons above me and one Shannon below me but just that one time was there one in my grade. That wasent until 9th grade. I didnt like her automatically because I was jealous to have to share my name. I named my daughter Rockell and my son Alyis. I find it doubtful they will ever go to school with someone with the same name as theirs. I dont like common names at all.

my wife and decided to name our son based on something that is special to us since we got got our first child after more than 10 years of trying. We gave him two names, one is fairly common here (Enzo) because of my love of racing and Ferrari in particular and the second one is an Indonesian name (Boedi) because he was conceived while i was assigned there. and we are very happy with our decision, we hope he will be happy as well with his name when he grows up.

Of course I want unique names for them but it should not sound weird and should not give the child difficulty in writing his own name. It should not be a reason for the child to be the center of joke or ridicule. I don't like also to give my son the name of things, place or flower. It should be the name meant for a person only.

My name is a common name, but it's a nice name and i like it ..
It's short and sweet...GUNA...just u have to use two syllables to call either of my name GUNA \GOHAN..
I like unique names, but it should be good, i have heard unique names some are very good and rare and some are funny..
Naming after the actors are not so popular in my place, only a few would do that..
Because keeping a name involves a huge process....Considering the planets and the rotations and the time of birth and the day everything is calculated and a name will be suggested, it could be modified a little...

I like unique names.
Not the weird ones, but one name that comes from a combination.
Names from other countries also sounds unique if we used it to name after our child coz it is not a usual/common name in our country.
So,it depends on what aspects does the name is being unique.

I think I prefer an unusual/ not-so common name but it's still pronounceable and doesn't sound like made up. Common names can be very frustrating for kids. In school, my best friend had the same name as three other girls in our class so she changed her name. I mean, there were so many Erics, Sarahs, Bens, Ashleys and Daniels in my school that we had to start calling them by their last names. Then again, I don't like names which sounds like the parents decided to throw in a q or a z, swirl the letters up and slap it onto their baby's birth certificate.
