How important logic in religion to you? Without logic can we understand God?

Logic is very important! But we may have an incomplete understanding of many things. So in some things, faith supported by many facts in other things will have to supersede logic. For a time, we may just have to accept them until more facts are available to make logic work.

We'll find the fact as a result of logic Mere accepting won't work!

I think the only way to understand god is without logic. There haven't been any logical arguements for God which is why I guess people so often rely on faith; belief without logic/reason.

If it's the only way so there is no God. God must be free from absurdity. Brain is given to us, what is it for?

Brain is given to understand Physics Chemistry Engineering and all such human engagements. The Maker cannot be "understood" this way just as the eyes cannot see themselves.

God's substance will never be reached by eye. Brain's there to contemplate divine signs. That's why logic's needed.

Religion is very important to me. I have had personal religious experiences and know that GOD exists and that Jesus is the Son of God, the Messiah, the Saviour of the world. How can we use logic to understand God? God is infinitely smarter than we are.

I share albert2412's view. There are times when logic is reliable, but there are also times when man should not fully trust his reasoning. Man was created in the likeness of God and was placed in the Garden of Eden, with wisdom almost on the same level with God. But since the fall of man, his wisdom have degraded to the point there are already limitations to what we can comprehend. There are things on this earth that cannot be explained by mere logic alone. Just like for example, prophecies. We know there are a lot of "logic people" out there who think prophecies are absurd. But come to think of it, how come the prophecies in the Bible came true and fulfilled? Like for example, the dream of the Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar, interpreted by Daniel.

Sorry to say, it's because of no logic that you regard Jesus as son of God. No logic no truth. Thanks.

I agree with you, man's praised nature is taken after God. Even on our hand--for those who believe--there's the name of God written in Arabic. And on both palms there are numbers 18 and 81 which make 9, the perfect number, as if it says God is the Most Perfect. Realizing this we should also question ourselves as to God existence. What is regarded as the most perfect is absurd by the concept of trinity, of course. One is one, that's logic and unmistakable. One is three or three are one, that's out of logic. As there's the likeness of God in us, will we redeem other sins? The answer is the same as God's: no way! Thank you and peace ...

One can only understand God with logic. He has written all we need to know about Him. Scholars have dissected the bible and all can only conclude logically that it is impossible to have been written by man. If one looks at religion in a superficial way of course it appear illogical. It is only when we are prepared to study logically that it makes sense. If you think about it everything in this world requires logical thinking to be understood. One will never understand religion unless one is prepared to study and learn. That is why one must study for 7 years to be qualified to be a Catholic priest.

It is quite logical that man has interfered in the Bible and God's words. It has been changed and interpreted to suit many religions. However, when scholars have gone back to the original versions of the bible they have discovered logically, that it is impossible to have been written by the logic of man. Some sections have been examined by court room style logic and conclusions drawn. The Bible has been the most examined book of all and has come under much logical scrutiny.

God's words must be independent and unmistakable. Regarding this, can logic agree with men's interference in it?

When god talks about anything in this world,he has reason, without all of those Logic in all his words, then verses will be meaningless...When Humans don't understand the words of God,it will be illogical,or without reason. There is always a reason for everything...Thanks!

If Human believe that there is no God,then logic of their perception is there,if human believe in the existence of God,then what would we call that Faith, right,Logic is also there, both questions or all things under the sun has Logic, only Human tend to be Illogical..when Human doesn't know the answer of one question, they assume it as illogical..or has no reason at all...

Logic is important to certain point, logic is not totatly needed to understand God that will lead us to equate God to human. Religion is matter of faith and trust when logic is not there, there is faith in God who is powerful and beyond human logic and comprehnsion. Relgion can be studied as sicence, but it not science.

I agree with what man2sting has said. Sometimes, we need logic in religion. You know why? Because, some groups have discovered that religion can be used to deceive people.. that's when logic plays an important role.. to guide us to think, believe and do what is right. But "logic" is not the ultimate thing that others sometimes make it their god (yes, it is true, there were people who made logic, their god, as what have happened during the French revolution when the mob overthrown religiously inclined French monarchs, after the overthrow, they erected a lady symbolizing "goddess of Reason"). We should not solely rely on logic. Given the fallen nature of man, logic has its own inherent limitations.

On the contrary, logic will stop men from equating God to men. When you get trust better than logic in religion, you'll never know what the truth is. Sounds logical, doesnt it?

man2sting faith in things unseen and with God in our hearts we do know he exists. Logic has little to do with it, but faith does have all to do with it. Not all things are logical because we cannot explain them yet they are what they are' and all the logic in the world cannot change that.

But, ma'am, anything unmistakable should meet logic. I dont think God just lets men think about Him without logical signs.

LOGIC has everything to do with God!!!! Everything about God will always add up. When people do not understand they patch the void with beliefs and feelings. Feelings are great. What would life be without them. God wants us to KNOW not just believe. That will take reason, thought and yes LOGIC!!! God is Unconditional Love, but He is also HIGH INTELLIGENCE!! If you really want to understand God,It's going to take lots of work and learning. God's greatest moment is when that light bulb goes off over one of His children's heads and they understand just a little bit more. You grow closer to God. The pieces of the puzzle do all fit together. The masterpiece makes one wonderful view.

With or without logic we can understand GOD through HIS WORDS, the Holy Bible. Religion is not important but your personal relationship to our Creator, the LORD JESUS.

God is what you feel, what you believe, it is no use to think to much about this. If you try to figure Him out, you will find yourself in a bigger dilemma that you were before making to many questions. So in my opinion you can understand Him by believing in Him and not trying to think about Him as a human being. You just have to accept Him and that is all. All this, if you really want to believe and understand Him. I hope you will understand what I am trying to tell you.

To figure out His substance is impossible. But to use logic to know Him will bring one to light. Dilemma only when one prefers to stick to absurdity. Thanks.
