He uses skin moisturizer, use foundation to make his face look clean and concealer to hide those pimple marks. He even uses lipstick to make his lips look more kissable. And he uses all sorts of perfumes. Goes to the parlor to have his face, hair, nails done. He is even having a skin peel and bikini wax. I'm exaggerating on the wax thing.:-)
Yes, HE, not she. This is not a typo error and I'm not confuse about what pronoun to use. I'm referring to METROMEN doing all those stuff. Real men but taking care of themselves like women do.
Are you this kind of a man? And for ladies, are you willing to date a man who may look prettier than you are? LOL. Your voice is waiting to be heard.

eurekafemme,
I believe this is just forthcoming and with the living conditions becoming more challenging, I suppose men like myself could once in a while afford some holistic spa treatments.
I am not exactly fancying a skin peel or bikini waxing which is by the way available but I do have the full package which includes the works from head to toe literally every twice a month whenever I have the time to spare.
I can assure you that it is a rejuvenating experience especially when you are tight for time to relax on a holiday. I wouldn't say (dare) that men will ever be beautiful but I think we can accept being handsome any time.

What a relaxing song is this.;-) Thank you for sharing. Who sang this song, by the way? I love it!
Of course, dear. We all need a little pampering from time to time. Yours isn't waht vanity is. You are just paying yourself its due. You deserve it, after all, you are working so hard to make both ends meet. :-)
Handsome then, it is for you, dear.

Oh, so it was Ella, huh? I did not recognize her voice. I listened to her other classics just a week ago but this one is really great! Yup very distinct from Diana Krall.LOL
Thank you, dear. Checking that Julie London's rendition while typing this.:-)

Sweetie, i don't mind a bit of moisturizer for dry hands or something, BUT, the rest, i don't think so.
He has to be more beautifull naturally or he can go get himself a dress and then go for that bikini wax.
I mean really, this is awesomly funny.
TATA.

Saphrina, it is so nice to see you here.;-)
That is true, dear. we can tolerate the basics for grooming and well being but to the extent of spending too much and taking this beautification issue to the extreme, well, it is another issue.
A bikini wax, huh? Well, shaving on that part may do the trick, isn't it? LOL
Have a great day, dear. :-)

I am not into high maintenance me. I want a man to be groomed but if he spends more time in the mirror than I do (and I spend very little) this is going to be a problem. I knew someone like that once back in the 80's when it was the trend for men to wear eyeliner and/or mascara. It's not for me.

Oh my goodness! I hadn't even seen her "response" LOL! You might want to set a screen saver with a password to activate as soon as you become idle so she doesn't press something and accidentally cause a problem.

Hello, Canellita.:-)
My apologies for the nonsense reply here. It was my 3 year old daughter who did that. I was about to reply to your comment when her baby sister cried, I left my post and forgot everything. She took over. I just saw it today....Sorry...
As for your comment,I do agree with you. Since, I am also low maintenance and would prefer naturally enhanced beauty.I don't want to wait for my guy to finish primping up while I'm already good to go.
As for that eyeliner and mascara, I have a male friend who still uses them. It gives more wonders and works for him. He has beautiful eyes of which, I believe, he wants to highlights.:-)
We, women, should look more beautiful than our men.

Hello eureka,
This is the time where even men are too vain about themselves.
Maybe becoz,it is the trend, and this modernization and fast life make us looks older than our age.
The stressed and environment as well.
I don't use cosmetics a lot on myself.
Our body is composed of organic elements, better use the same elements not to harm our body.
In regards with your topic,No,i don't think i would prefer dating a man who looks prettier than me.
Not in the sense of literally being pretty, but the things he done with himself.
Uh uh,i couldn't just imagine a partner who stays more longer in bathroom and in mirror than i do.

Oh, dear, that could be very annoying for me, too.;-)
I don't want my man to be taking too much focus on our looks than the more important things in our lives and relationship. There's also the tendency that we will become broke eventually because this kind of routine must be maintained or else, he'll look uglier than before if he stopped.LOL
Too bad for the relationship.;-)

wow, you sure he's not gay? lol just kidding, seriously. But no! me? never! I would never date a guy prettier than me. I don't understand guys like that myself. Hair, nails, make up, sorry, but I don't see a real man in this situation. I love my boyfriend. He get's is hair cut, not done, and he bites his nails lol. No going to the nail salon for him. But ok, very interesting topic! I jumped on this discussion as sooon as I seen the topic. Keep them interesting and coming!!
happy mylotting!!

Hello, Keisha. Thank you for appreciating this topic.;-)
UYes, I do agree with you that somehow I don't see the logic of it all. I see men as handsome and gorgeouse when they are simple and flaunt their natural beauty. Weird, but I even consider a man a real turn on when he's tanned because he works under the sun, rough hands because he can do hard work and thus, he is really strong. I like it when he sweats, too (sans the bad odor) . I'm not sure but for me, this is a perfectly sexy guy. Metroman isn't that kind of a guy.
He is best as my salon buddy.;-) Your guy seems the typical, guy. LOL

I'm a metro man..
I don't have any of those habits..
I just wear nice clothes and good hair cut..
I never care about my beauty, i have some pimples in my face..
I never use any of those beauty items, it will damage my skin later when i cross 25+.
So, with this normal look no girl looks at me, when i cross a girl or when a girl crosses me, she will never have alook at me, because i'm not white, i'm a tan..
Girls here look only for white boys ..
So i have no business to make any artificial beauty on my face, since i don't wanna waste my money on those things...

Oh, I hope you are not annoyed or somewhat feeling sad while you were typing this....
I don't think all the girls in your country prefers white men. Some, for sure would fall in love or at least attracted to a tan skinned man like you are. Here in the Philippines, tan can closely be related to sexiness and masculinity. All the Adonis of Philippine cinema have tan skins. :-)
You are most logical with this thought and I agree with you on this one. Why would you alter your looks by using artificial products when you are contented with who and what you are.
Don't worry, somewhere and someday, a girl will look at you and you'll be proud of it because she has seen your real beauty.;-)
Cheers! Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.;-)

I agree with you, Maan. :-) I also perceive a man in his simplicity as handsomely gorgeous than the man who pays so much attention to his looks. Moreover, there's a tendency that metromen would not last long in rural areas. They don't want to smell sweaty and all .
Not my kind of guy, either.;-)

I might never date such men, because I am not someone to spend much money on beauty and I rarely go to the beauty salon and being pretty for me is enough than being too beautiful or above all appearances is not very important to me so finally I shall refuse to date such men.

Med, good day!.;-)
I do agree with you. When we don't believe in vanity it is no way we can understand what the other person is thinking of.
I myself is a low maintenance when it comes to beautification of myself.I do believe that natural is more beautiful than any other artificially altered beauty.
True, beauty must be more than just skin deep.;-)
Thaks for sharing your stand on this subject.

I don't think I can. Hehehehe. I am not the type who is in the parlor every week having my hair or nails done. I mean, I was never the type of girl, and I don't think I would stand it if my boyfriend is like that. LOL. Plus, it's just so uncomfortable and just plain weird. Hehehehe.

Hi, dear. I'm glad to see you here. It has been awhile that I haven't heard your thoughts. Despite of the modernization and the way people think liberally, there are just things that are much appreciated when they remain the same as no matter what changes may occur.
I do agree with you on this, dear.It is kind of weird that he is always looking so beautiful than I do.I'd be very jealous if men would rather look at him that me.LOL

Well, I sometimes wonder, too. But i'm not in a position to ask because we are not related and he is not even a close friend. I just noticed.LOL. Now, I have become nosy.:-)
Yes, for me this is beyond normal. Moreover, this is a display of insecurity towards the way you look. Men think that it is normal to be as flawless as women are but I think they are thinking wrong. Because having those little flaws make them man enough.
They are not look upon by their looks but by the strength of their character.:-)
Thank you, Jules, for sharing your thoughts. :-)

I don't have anything against men who take care of their appearance to make sure that they look presentable. As far as i'm concerned, having a nice haircut, clean clothes, and nice smell are enough. Well, there was a time when i have to use lip balm to sooth peeling lips. But using lipstick and all the things you mentioned are bit extreme. But it's a matter of choice, some men may have to undergo skin peel if their acne is that bad, for one my brother in law uses powder and majority of the male sales clerk working at SM are using face powder. its really a matter of choice, after all part of landing a job here in this country is having a presentable appearance so we can't really blame that there are men who are going the extra mile as far taking care of their appearance is concerned. It's a king of trend also, women nowadays are taking the extra mile just to enhance their appearance, men are no different. If women are vain, men are equally the same.

Very well said, dear.
We are already in the 22nd century so it is no use to stick to that colossal practice when men were contented with just a haircut. Anyways, career-wise, presentable looking have an edge, indeed. It is the reason why a picture in the resume is a must, I guess. Who would pay attention to someone who looks like he hasn't taken a bath for days even if he actually does? :-(
Things are different now and somehow men are so aware now that women always got this "power " over men because we often look good and smell good. Why not use the same tactic for their own benefits?:-)
Thank you, Ybong, for sharing your opinion. It is greatly appreciated. Good night, dear.:-)

Apresto, welcome to Mylot and to this discussion.:-)
I am not pissed but yes, amused.;-) It is not that I am having something against it but I can't help wondering if all men are open this.
I must agree with you that men and women co exist and that they are equal in all aspects, though they may function differently
Thank you for dropping a line, dear. Have fun here.;-)
