What to do with paralyzed rabbit?

One morning we found our rabbit not moving its hind legs. I checked the internet and found out that it is a common problem and if not severe, will just heal in 2 weeks time. Two weeks is past, still no sign of healing. I don't want to spend more money on vet. We had done much already. We had six rabbits and had given away 5. We keep this one as it is dearest to my youngest daughter. I am hoping that some of you could give me advice on what to do. By the way, the rabbit's name is 'Pedro', named after 'Peter Rabbit'.

I know that sometimes they seem to get better, but at the same time there are some that do not ever get better.Ensure that it keeps its bottom clean,as this is where the rabbit can get really ill if it can not clear the mess from its bottom. With the rabbit having to drag itself ensure that it can not lay in its own poo or wee,by constantly removing any poo in the cage.Hope this helps.

You are right. that was my burden before. I had to wash the bunny everyday as the lower part got really messy. It did not help though. One morning I noticed that it didn't get any better so I prayed that it would just take its final rest. So it did the following day. My little girl mourned for it and now is thinking of getting another pet. We learned much from this experience. Thanks for sharing your thoughts here. Blessings!

OMG! Its sad and painful to hear this news. I would recommend you take it to a vet and get the bunny diagnosed. We had four pairs of white bunnies at our place when we were kids, one of them developed such illness. When we took it to a Vet, after diagnosing and an X-Ray we came to know that it was hit and injured while playing in the garden. Took some medications and things were somewhat better. The issue is that pets (like Bunnies and many others) are unable to express their pain and feelings and this makes the task more daunting. So it would be wise to take it to a Vet without delay. Oh yes, it would be great if you took a written history of its behavior to the vet along coz this way you would take less time explaining what has happened and what changes have you been noticing.

Our bunny is on medication now. I'm hoping for speedy recovery. We bathed it everyday as it gets really dirty dragging its half body on its mess. It gets a lot of tender loving care especially these days. Thanks for your concern. I appreciate it.

I'm so sorry to hear your bunny is ill I think you should take your rabbit to the vet and get it checked out. You don't know for sure what the problem is. There are numerous reasons for a bunny to lose feeling in its back legs, so you might be wrong on your internet diagnosis. And, in your sentence "I checked the internet and found out that it is a common problem and if not severe, will just heal in 2 weeks time," you say "if not severe"..well, maybe this is severe. You said he's not any better so I think it's time to find out what the exact problem is, for his sake. Your only other alternative is the vet, and that's the only advice I could give you right now, since he's not improving.
