SO i recently found out about this program. BOINC stands for Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing and what it does is it allows you to volunteer your processor for research projects like finding a cure to cancer and other diseases. Theres a bunch of different projects you can do. I personally only do one and that's the world community grid project. By default BOINC its set to use 60 percent of your cpu at any given time. But dont think it will slow down your pc while your using it. Because it has a lower process priority than your other programs. I dont even notice a difference while im running it. But umm its pretty great to know im helping in the search to find a cure to these diseases. If this sounds interesting to any of you guys i recommend to do some more research on it. Its pretty neat. also Stanford university also has a something similar to this but they are not a boinc project. And it is called Folding@home. So you could also check out that. Im not trying to endorse any specfic project i just thought it was pretty cool and i wanted to spread the word about this.
