hi you shouldh have fresh lean hamburger meat, browned with chopped onin and then fresh green lettucer grated cheese, fresh ripe tomate chopped adn lots of fresh sour cream and fresh good guality taco seasoning from a well known brand like McCormick not an off brfand and fresh corn taco shells put it altogether and it should be delicious not gross at all unless you just do not like the combination of flavors, the meat must bve fresh not old meat. and lean and not cooked hard.you just hav sour cream for the flavor sharpener. loll.

Making tacos is easy... but you have to know the secrets in preparing it right.
1) Everything must be FRESH. The vegetables that you will use should be really fresh and crispy. Also make sure that the ground beef that you will use is freshly ground and doesn't have any stinky/foul smell.
2) Cook everything just right and use also your trusted brands and trusted ingredients. Maybe something went wrong with the taco powder that you used. Here's an alternative, instead of using taco powder, use pizza seasoning or italian seasoning. Some can be bought easily in small bottles or pouch.
3) And here comes the best tip... when you cook the ground beef... try to dry it up... but not too dry, make sure that the ground beef mixture that you cook will be dry but not burnt.
4) Upon choosing the taco shell, make sure that it is newly manufactured, make sure that the "best before date" is still a month away from the time that you will use it.
5) Prepare your taco using the correct proportions:
1 part beef mixture
2 part lettuce
1 part salsa
1/2 part cheese
1/8 part hot sauce
6) ENJOY!!! Prepare everything with a smile.

Maybe it was the seasoning mix that you got. Try a different one next time and see if that helps.
