Being paid to review products?

July 30, 2010 3:17pm CST
Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone is making a nice sum of extra money on the side from reviewing products, and whether not not it's a viable venture? If so, are there any sites in particular that you would recommend, and which of course have been proven in your experience to be legit. I've done a little research into this myself, but the main obstacle I came across was having to do everything from a well established blog, whereas my blog is very much in its baby steps at the moment. But...yeah. Any ideas?

Reviewstream is for me the best review site. This is very legitimate and they pay very quickly. The payout is 50 dollars but if you write regularly and with good contents you will be entitled to regular rate of 2.50 dollars per review so it is just very easy to reach. I think products about medicine, travel and electronics can command regular rate provided it is descriptive enough and written with minimum of 500 words otherwise you will get bulk rate only.

I have written reviews for epinions.com and I have been paid for them. It is a good site and easy to do.

I used to be on a site called dooyoo, which i made quite a bit of amazon vouchers out of, but they suddenly banned me for no reason. I have a sneaking suspucioun that it is because i had a large amount of cash in my account, and they wanted me gone to save on money themselves, so i couldn't really say that i recommended it

Oh wow that sucks, how crazy and cynical of them! I guess I probably won't bother checking that out. Also, I'd rather sign up someplace which pays me via paypal in cash, simply because i'm a fairly rare user of amazon, so I'm not convinced that it would be the best avenue for me. Did you have to actually buy the products beore you reviewed them?

I have joined "Review Stream" too. I joined the site two years ago, and I am very happy with it. It is a place where one can write reviews about a variety of topics, not only products. One can write reviews about things one comes across in the day-to-day activities, shopping, restaurants, movies, travel, hotels, and so on. One gets paid when one reaches the payout amount. I have been paid a number of times.

I believe Ciao.co.uk is very good for that. They have a partnership with Bing wich makes your review to have more viewers and all and that's where the money come from: popularity. Ciao users seems to review about everything, but I'm not a user so I don't know the bad side of the service. But everytime I look for reviews Ciao's, Shvoong's and HubPages are very popular.
