consultrainer, I am really glad that the debacle has arrive at a very good conclusion for the members in India. I hope that this is going to stay for good without anymore changes which is really unnecessary in the first place. Only wished that both sides could arrive at a compromise much earlier. Having said that, I hope that members are wary that Paypal is not a financial institution and as such is not bounded by the local financial regulators or law. Since, they do not have any legal binding obligations, there is really nothing to prevent them pulling out of our country at any time. Hence, I would advocate that we should not leave our monies in Paypal, if it is possible withdraw all and bank it into your own bank account. Take care.

dear dear sky, .. (are you a power ranger? .. the BLUE one?_ ) your advice is to be taken very seriously, by all ! .. Don't leave money in these online banks .. better become a group, and pool up the funds, to reach the minimum, and then transfer into real time banks.

consultrainer, In the first place, Paypal, Moneybooker and similar are not banks but online payment processors, which explains why they are not bounded by financial legalities of any country. As such, they are not obligated to stay or observe any bylaws of any country which makes them unstable for us to leave funds in these establishments.

Yes, its good news for Indians, like me.When i got the mail from Paypal yesterday sayiing that electronic bank transfers had been discontinued ,i was disappointed since i am on the verge of cashing out.Check payments take a long time to reach us and i resigned myself to the inevitable. However today and to my surprise i found that Paypal had restored elec transfers and i certainly heaved a sigh of relief. Thanks to all Paypal users wherever they may be who strongly protested this unfortunate move and got the administrators to see the light.

Do you know which bank support the process? Does it include ICICI? I still do not have a paypal account. If at all it is useful to transfer money from LR or PM to banks in India...

no way madam. I am glad that they changed their methodology, for INDIANS. it is all because of our shouting in different forums. I will not be surprised when the users of paypal start flooding their own forum and blog with content regarding their dis-content about the methods of withdrawl. see.. i am able to write so complex sentences. ... be more glad that they agreed to refund the 5 dollars too.

Earlier Indian can transfer their Paypal money to their respective Indian bank trough electronic transfer but few days ago we got a letter in our email that paypal is going to stop electronic fund transfer in Indian because of few reasons , we can only withdraw our payment through cheque . But again Paypal changed its mind and did not change the present mode of transfer that is electronic fund transfer.

It could be, but then if it is, your population has more clout than ours. More then likely, they figured it would cost more for them to mail out the checks then to transfer the money automatically. At least it would make things a little easier and people would not have to worry about the check being lost in the mail which is what sometimes happens.

hahaha. i am thrilled to read your comment. the word that is a feather now, in my cap is.. CLOUT .. i enjoy the effect it has, ... at last. I was always worried about the population of INDIA, but, when it comes to tipping the scales, in our favor, at last, this worked. thanks for everything suspense! ...

never really followed what happened here. the last i checked paypal restricted the use of their services for their clients based in india. did paypal give any reason for this? i have a couple of friends who worked with the customer service support of paypal and they did say that restrictions were placed but no official word was given regarding the reason. anyway, glad that you guys there in india can start using paypal again. hopefully, this sticks for a long time and you won't be getting restricted again. cheers!!!

they did not bother to reveal their reasons for both the mails. First they stopped, and later, they back tracked. i presume, it is all because of the volume of business. at last, the population of INDIA really helped to turn the tables to our favor. silly

thanks for the support. Oldchem. if other people just left it to us, Indians.. to go for the fight.. it would not have been possible for us to get back the facility. all our friends from the different parts of the world joined the good fight.
