I like to work well with my coworkers, but given its a work place, I dont feel like there are actual "true" friends there. Like to hear any one else's thoughts or ideas. I think it is possible if it is with people not in your direct group. What are your thoughts?

I think friendships in the workplace require maturity first and foremost. Being friends with coworkers is great, I have several from different jobs I have had in my past. But there are a few that I lost due to competition. We both put in for a promotion that came up and it ruined our friendship. It seems that both of you need to be mature enough to handle those situations, if your friendship is strong enough it won't matter who gets the promotion- those are the kind I think you should have in the workplace. Unfortunately you can't know if things like that will affect your friendship till it happens. It can be a sticky situation, but at the same time it can be a great thing. It just depends.....

well i think work place is really a good place to look for a good friendship, because most of the time you are always with each other so the bond will grow stronger from time.

You know, I got most of my good friends from the office so I really believe that it's a good place for building up friendship. Try to reach out with your colleagues and see who are willing to help you at work, share thoughts or stories with you or go out with you sometime after office hours. You'll eventually find a "true" friend and try to keep that relationship good and make it lasts.

I think work place is just the good place to build up good friendship . During the work you need to help each other and need to reach the same objective. During the process of helping and coordinating with each other, good friendship would come out gradually.

absolutely
Some people think that work place is for JUST working. In part it is, but if you work in an office, and u have no friends there, it's very ahrd to work.I know that having collegues is not real friendship, but it can end up on friendship, i can't see anything going against it
