Surely this will not be granted - money for a murderer!!

People from the UK will surely remember the evil and wicked Ian Huntley. Huntley was a school caretaker who abducted and murdered two 10-year-old girls from the school where he worked - Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman - in 2002. The monster enticed Holly and Jessica into his home, killed them and hid their remains while he joined in the search for the girls with the rest of the community. While in prison Huntley has been attacked by fellow inmates, at one time having his throat slashed. Now he has put in a claim that the prison service has failed in its duty of care towards him and it looks like he could be getting compensation of up to £20,000. Do you think that this is right?

He could get a lot more too. He can claim another £20k for his injuries, and up to £60k for the Prison Service's failure in it's duty to claim. The trial cost might easily meet £1m in legal aid. I can guess that the lawyers will spin this out as long as possible too. I posted virtually the same topic just recently- I suppose when I started typing this might not have been up and I was distracted. It is titled differently so they might both be OK. I hope that this does not conflict!

Winchester 1897 - Winchester 1897 pump action shot gun
Nothing about this sort of thing surprise me any more. Just disappoints. I even heard one 'expert' state that it would be OK as the only place he can spend the money is in prison, so we'll get it back. If I had a 12 bore, the TV might have got it!

Hiya chem, Can appreciate how you feel I don´t think that he should have that money either. They probably will pay him too. I am no one to judge anyone else. Would I pay him I would not. But then I am only little old me. I have read about a Man who has killed a certain amount of Women and he is writing a Book, studying Law to become a Lawyer and I don´t know what else do you think he should be allowed to do that? The worst thing is if he does do all those things in no time he will be out on the Street again.

I doubt if they will let Huntley out so what is the use of the money!!

Hiya chem, Well I don´t know chem and as you have mentioned it´s being increased in the amount too. I suppose they will put it into a Bank Account and just keep it quiet. I have no idea what is the use of the money. Other People here have been compensated too for something similar and no one does anything about it. That guy I mentioned for me is one of the worst cases in this Country.

I think the inmates should be allowed to finish him off, like Jeffrey Dalmer...

hiya oldchem what...!! i have known about Ian Huntley and his terrible deeds that he did. in my honest opinion, that guy is lucky that he isn't being tortured and put through the same pain, agony and suffering that he did to those poor helpless girls. and now he's going to be getting up to £20,000 in compensation?? after all that horrible and nasty things that he did?? sorry to say, but that is really one messed up system for something like that to take place. so what next? if he accidentally falls and slips on the staircase or something, would he then be allowed to sue the prison authorities? why don't they just let him out next year on 'good behavior' if i was in charge of things, he would have a one-way non-negotiable ticket to hell.. and all the suffering that he receives along the way is just a little bit of justice to the lives & future that he has taken away from those two girls!

Now the figure has been increased to £100,000 !! I think they should just let the inmates at him - he is an evil monster!!

first of all,i do swear that i hate everything this guy has done, but i have to admit what he had accused the prison of is objectively of some sense.depressed to say that:( however,if the judge has the ability to tell right from wrong and a little compassion,i'm sure he'll try to protect the prison from being impolitely blackmailed and show justice to the public.

Wow! I can see this stirring up a load of responses! Mine is: Heck NO! If the prison was serving him 3 meals a day, and providing him a place to sleep I don't feel he has the right to ask or expect anything else. Why does he think he should be protected from other inmates? What kind of protection did those girls get against him? "If you can't do the time don't do the crime!" This guy should get the chair for what he did, not resort treatment!

It is not right to give money to a murderer, but if the gov't feels that's what they have to do then we can't do anything about it. Let's just be thankful he's in jail now, he won't be able to hurt other girls again.

at first we can say,Why should pay for that evil man, what happen to him,was not enough for what he did. But in law, for all I know, Once the person was in your jurisdiction(which is Jail),they was responsible for their safety. There was a law that should be implement in general. That was my opinion.

I think that is crazy. If he wanted treated nicely he should not have committed these acts in the first place. It is a well known fact that people are not treated well in prisons. That is why you should behave yourselves so you don't go there.
