After losing the job, Maradona said, "I have been lied to and betrayed". He is blaming the General Manager, Carlos Bilardo of his team. After beating by Germany in the quarter final of the world cup, it was one of the important topics that whether Maradona will be allowed to continue his job or not. I think it was a very tough decision had to take by the Argentina Football Association and should take a better coach for the next 4 years at least up to next world cup. They need few senior players to hold the backbone of the team now and bounce back again. He never played some experienced players in the matches in the world cup as well as he has given the chances to the players whom he liked. And he had some believe that the world cup is for his team only. He had a very good defense line up who played together in Inter Milan. So, his midfield and attacking players were failed to convert. So, i believe that it is a very good decision for Argentina. I hope Argentina will bounce back again.

Yes, as per Maradona he was promised in South Africa that he would be retained. When he came back to Argentina he was told that he would be retained only if he let go of some of his backroom staff. And Maradona felt that was in one way an indication to ask him to leave and that is why he is all upset about. I do not know why federations and coaches cannot do such stuff amicably and move on with life!! Cheers! Ram
