Facebook Privacy Problem Again

I have read in Yahoo news that security concerns over Facebook users have been raised again after a security consultant collected the names and profile URLs for 171 million Facebook users. They said that through this, a malicious hacker can gather names, address, phone numbers, email add and other information posted in your Facebook. This is a major security risk. So, have you set your profile in private settings? You may want to read this Facebook Privacy news in Yahoo to check that you have set all your security settings properly. I think we should all look into this matter. What do you think?

santosmarichris,
It is obvious here that you had not read my post regarding this subject and I am wondering for the reason(s).

Anyway, the issue has been rampant and this is just another go by people who are concern just how bad Facebook is at protecting members privacy and how information like your hometown, birth date, age, phone number, current city and e-mail address - which really explains how children and adults are being raped, getting killed, abused or kidnapped.
I hope that Facebook will realize it and come round changing their default to be more privacy oriented.

This is one reason why I do not like face book to me when they ask for all of that information its a bit much, I have already had to change my password 2 times, because some one hacked into my account and was posting applications on my friends pages. It so ticked me off because I hardly ever go there unless if its just to send back a reply to a message. Which is normally about once every 2 to 3 months.

That is why whenever I sign up to any social networking sites, I set the privacy settings immediately. i also dont accept people I dont personally know. Glad i have learned to make my facebook profile very private so long ago. it is also a great practice to not put things on your account which you would regret if people get to know them. I really feel sorry to those people who were part of that file.

Besides my name I have no other information there not even my phone number, address or email address. You are right with advanced technology in the hands of hackers it would be wise to not to provide this information on FB but if one develops friendship there is always the message box.

It's a good thing I don't have a lot about myself on my Facebook. I'm not really into it anyway.

I don't like face book at all, it has even been known to give people viruses, and trojans, to me its not safe at all. I wish they would do something to fix the security issues but they act like they don't care.

Facebook then should strengthen their privacy measures. There are many hackers out there who could take privilege of exposure of personal information. Other social networking sites should also do the same.

No wonder why I sometimes get spam messages on my YM account. I added my YM account in facebook and some people that I don't know would send me private messages in YM and later on add me in their facebook account. I have also heard a lot of people saying that their facebook accounts are hacked. Now I know why we should not trust networking sites. I hope facebook won't get messed up like friendster.
