My DIL grabbed from me a tray of jello in little containers that I saw in the fridge and was giving out to the children.
Okay. Let me start at the beginning. The grand twins wanted their 4th Birthday party at my house and this took place yesterday. Everyone worked hard and when I reached home all was going well in full swing.
We then did the cake thingie and sang and then all 30 of them ate curried chicken, rice and coleslaw. This was after the hot dogs, BBq chicken wings, doughnuts and crisps etc and gallons of drink.
A little later, they then had the cake and ice cream. Now, I was feeling that I had not done anything to help and so whilst they were eating the ice cream I went into my fridge to take out the little jelly containers that I saw my DIL make the night before.
Oh, I thought, they have forgotten to serve these little Jello containers to the children. So I decided to help and this is where I went wrong. I had just distributed the Jello to some of the children when the DIL saw what I was doing and she actually.must to my amazement, sprinted over some chairs in the garden to get to me.
She hurtled over them at a great speed you would have thought she was in the Olympics. Without missing a beat she swooped up from the children the containers of Jello. They did not look happy.
She then grabbed hold of my arm with one hand the tray of jello's in the other and almost frog marched me inside the house. I was shocked at her behaviour.
Inside the house I saw tears streaming down her face and between whoops of laughter, she managed to tell me that they were not for the children as they were Jello shots. Excuse me what are Jello shots? Still confused. She then offered me one. I don't like Jello I said. I don't want it.
Swallow it on one gulp she said. So, just because I am polite, I did so. It was when the impact of the vodka hit the pit of my stomach that I realized that the Jello had been liberally laced with vodka!
I made these for the adults, she said, because it will help us to cope with over thirty children and a dozen adults. Do not give them to the children!
Suitably chastised I went outside to join the children and we had a dance contest but I did not win a lollipop. Even though, with the help of two Jello shots, was convinced that I had performed some of my best moves.
I really need to get out more. Tell me- did you know what a Jello shot is?

Oh my gosh cynthiann LOL I know it's not really funny but your story made me laugh... at least the visual of it anyway Yes I do know what jello shots are... and some of them are pretty darn good, I have to admit. But thank goodness she saw you! Imagine if all the children had taken them! YIKES!

Well I thought it was pretty funny too but give thanks that the children did not get a chance to consume the jello. Can you imagine having over 30 drunk and disorderly children running around? They parents would have taken me to court or something horrible......

Thats awesome lol. That would have scared me just as bad as it scared your daughter. That was really nice of her to think of the mothers who had to take care of all those children and thought of a way to help them relax. I've actually never had a jello shot either. I am going to a party next month and I will get to try them for the first time. I really enjoyed reading your story that gave me a good laugh. Sorry to hear you didnt win the dance contest. It would have been funny to watch yourself on video after you sobered up.

LOL, gLAD she caught u. 30 kids would have been enough to contend with but to have them high on jello shots would have been something. I never heard of fixing jello that way but bet it helps the jello out, lol. I know they all had a good time w/out the shots.

When I started reading this, I knew exactly where it was going for some reason. I come from a long line of drinkers and I know exactly what a jello shot is. In fact, now that you've mentioned it, I think that I would love to have some in the very near future. Yes, they are a very potent way to take vodka and they will definitely hit you fast. I'm awfully glad that they were taken away from the children before they had the opportunity to take them.

I was so glad too! I can't bear the thought of what would have happened with all these children drunk and disorderly.

Hey Cynthiann~As always, you always manage to keep
me lol! As soon as you mentioned the jello I knew exactly
what you were talking about! I honestly have never personally
tried jello shots, but sure know what they are and I don't
like jello either, but probably if offered one or so would
swallow them too!I'm sure they made the party
alot more fun for you "Grandma" after you had those 2 jello
shots for sure! What would we do without your stories? Please
keep them coming! Hugs, Leslie

Oh Cynth
I would love to have been there, I think I would have been in fits of laughter though I dare say that parents wouldn't have been happy to have had their child returned to them half drunk haha. I did know what jello shots (or jelly shots as we would call them in the uk) were but it is not something I have had a lot of. I really did enjoy reading your discussion, you are a one Cynth!!
