I have a hunch that a number of you myLotters are just like me and love to explore thrift stores when given the chance. There are two large Goodwills in my area that often yield some pretty good finds, but sometimes smaller shops are where you can find the best items for incredible prices. Do you thrift shop? What's your "greatest find" or maybe most useful? Doesn't have to be something big or unbelievably cheap!

Oh I do, but I used to do it more in the past, because now I live in an area where they don't have a lot of thrift stores for some reason. But I love it, you can find such amazing things if you are lucky!

Ahh, yes, location can be limiting...I'm thankful to live in an area where it's easy to get to a variety of thrift stores. Glad you're still able to enjoy it, if not as often as you'd like.

Well, I have a few thrift stores that I go to. I don't know where you're from but there's one called, "Uniques". It is a very good store. I haven't been there in awhile but they have everything you want in a thrift store. Another thing, it has two sides in the store. One side for clothing items and the other for knick-knacks such as movies, books, cd's, furniture, and a whole bunch of other things. And their prices are really good. Thrift stores are in for the old generation like myself. The generation of today want very expensive clothing and sneakers too. I always buy second-hand items that I know I'm getting a good deal.

I'm part of a younger generation, being only 24, but I've never really acted like my compatriots; the new expensive stuff was never what I wanted. :)

Are you kidding? One's junks is another's treasure. I love to scope out the thrift stores. It is amazing what one can find. I like to put out the universe what I am wanting and then go. Usually always I find exactly what I wanted and then some. The latest was a meat grinder to grind my pup's raw organic beef that we get from my Dad. Yippie. I found a real nice one with all the attachments and pretty much brand new, eventhough it is an ancient one. I love it and only cost four bucks! My latest find however was a pair of cool jeans for 1.80. Sweet. I also got my dog a neat snoopy (Charlie Brown) bandana. Hm, it cost almost three bucks and my jeans were less than two. Go figure. I love to check out the thrift store. I am totally into used (clean) clothing, as long as it is big enough to yelid a decent peice if fabric. I then use the fabric to make hats and cloths for my dog. Hunting around for the material is half the fun! Lastly, I managed to get a free pair of black converse runners. This was an amazing find! Out walking my dog, I came across a table outside of a home, placed on the street. A sign said Free. I also got a beautiful large piece of pink stretch denim fabric. What a day that was for a major haul. Happy and I love my shoes!

I detest shopping, but do love charity shops. I don´t think I´ve ever found anything truly amazing, but I can virtually guarantee finding something I never realised I needed every time I enter one!

My husband and I have started to do this more. We sifted through two goodwill's and then a salvation army most recently. We were looking at books, our local salvation army has oodles and oodles of them, and I can't wait to go back when we have the money to do so. There was a cashbox at one goodwill and we would have snatched it up had it a key with it.

Goodwill is my favorite store, followed by ARK and the Salvation Army. If I need something, I go to the thrift store first. Depending on how quickly I need it, if they don't have it I will wait to see if they get it/one/some in before going to a retail store. Almost everything I own is second hand and I'm proud of the fact that I don't waste money buying new stuff. Most of the old stuff is better quality than you can buy new any more, anyway.
