Migraines are a result of torn tiny vessels which cause not enough oxygen to generate to the brain. Not to say something is wrong with the brain at all. There are many different reasons why migraines occur.
There are those that lack certain porlactin levels and those that have absolutely no reasons for it, as test after test have proven that a particular person has absolutely no reason for it. One thing for sure there are no over the counter medications you can get or home remedies to prevent migraines, if so that would be one of the wonderful pending miracles. Migraines onset is completely unexpected and cannot be prevented without a physicians pre medication therapy.
One thing that absolutely relieves some of the symptoms is total darkness, complete stress relief and rest. But in order to get rid of the system for the moment is a physicians prescription but please keep in mind Migraines have no schedules and no cure. The can have an onset of weekely, maybe monthly and some people can actually have them every few years.
Best suggestion is to go to a physician to single out with testing as to what the onset of the migraines are.
Hope this helps! Oh and by the way your first post!! Welcome - Welcome to myLot

There are several different types of migraines, so it really depends on what kind you have. I went to a doctor to get a diagnose, and he also gave me pills that really work for me, but he also mentioned that if I would have had another type of migraine, they would not have helped me. So you need to see a doctor to make sure what you have exactly!

I'm working as a research assistant for a clinical trial, and when patients claim to have migraine, the doctor who is my boss would usually prescribe them with celecoxib, a painkiller, I tried it when I gave birth C-section, it really works! It will make you forget you're in pain. I don't know what causes migraine though.
