Well, I don't personally know it deeper but everybody around me told me that Bsc Hons degree is considered more when you are applying for positions, well, let's call it job. But rules are different in each university. I really suggest you to find it out from the place that you will get your degree from. Maybe you should ask them about the 'function' of hons comparing to non-hons one. Hope this helps.

In the case of UK academic courses, according to Wikipedia, an honours degree takes three years, full-time study (at least 25 hours of attendance per week) to complete.
Honours degrees are categorised into four grades:
-First class (70%+)
-Second class, divided into: a)Upper division (60%+)
b)Lower division (50%+)
-Third class (40%+)
Ordinary degrees are awarded to those students, who have not achieved the standard required for an honours degree. (Less than 40%-Pass)
