Gee, thanks. Now I'M going to be wondering why that frosting doesn't melt! I think I've eaten my last Pop Tart until I find the answer to that question. Just why DOESN'T that frosting melt? Okay, I'm off to do some research. If I find the answer, I'll get back to you. It may just be a very unpleasant surprise! If you get the answer first, PLEASE let me know, okay?

FOUND IT!!! "The frosting of a poptarts is mostly refined sugar. "Dry" sugar melts at a higher temperature than "wet" sugar (wet like regular cake frosting with water and fat mixed in). Poptarts frosting is more likely to burn before melting, but it will eventually melt given enough heat and enough time." This came from WikiAnswers: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Why_doesn't_the_frosting_melt_off_of_a_pop-tart_when_it's_in_the_toaster

thanks, i feel the glow fading already, but that was my last one, 1 in 60 years was enough for me, i'll blame it on the munchies.

My granddaughter (15) eats these everymorning. Untoasted. She breaks off the outer edge all the way around and throws it away, she says it is "nasty"!!!!! I have never liked poptarts. I would prefer a real jelly (rasphberry) donut!!!!!! I have tried the 'toaster strudels' but didn't like them in the toaster, they were still frozen! So I wrap them in foil and bake them. Then I looked at the calorie count and haven't bought anymore of them either!!!!!

Oh yes, they areMUCH better then the Pop Tarts! I still prefer them in the oven and yes I do like them but they are on the diet page of 'DO NOT EAT!' that my Dr gave me and every time I go in she says "are you sticking to your diet?" really it is more like "the diet is sticking to me!" Once upon a time, before 40, more like 17, yep I liked that cold pizza for breakfast too. Now I don't even like left over pizza and the only real pizza that I like is the homemade that I make! Wow have I gotten picky after 50!!!!

i kind of like the toaster strudel, except to get them toasted the right way they usually burn a little, but thats ok i just dump some more icing on them. but u must admit they are better than pop tarts. thats ok my daughter just turned 40 and she eats cold pizza for breakfast, NOW thats nasty.

That made me really laugh. I guess I have never really thought about it, but you are right it does not melt. I honestly don't know how they made it so that it doesn't melt, I guess because it is kind of hard to begin with, I don't really know. I just know I really enjoy them when they are toasted. They taste really good that way, but they are not exactly healthy so I don't eat them very often.

Hi. max1950. I would think that the icing is somehow preserved onto the pop tart of why it does not melt off. And, it is firm on the dough. I am glad that the icing does not melt off of my pop tart. That is what makes it so yummy. I say, keep the icing!

No its not nuclear waste lol. its a pop TART. the tart frosting is not supposed to melt. The only thing thats supposed to melt is the inside of it.

max1950 oh yes that stuff is just not good for you at all, really. Might not be nuclear waste but its got a zillion kinds of sugars in it and I have no doubt it might well kill a diabetic like myself with sugar overload. I hate the things and kids with sweet tooths love the crap. They will soon be having to see the dentist for sugarcavities.lol lol lol.The fact that that icing does not melt intrigues me too as just what is really in that icing?

i sure hope not. i used to eat them quite often. back when they first started making them they seemed much better. but now they are thinner and are like everything else sold today, just not the same. like they've cut back on good ingredients
