Embarrassing... Do you have one?

I was born with a bladder problem and it has held me back a lot in my life. My bladder is only the size of an infant's bladder. When I was in school I used to have "accidents" all the time. It was horribly embarrassing and because of it I had a hard time making friends. As I have gotten older I have learned how to control my problem better but I never thought I would get married or anything because of it. Thank God this isn't the case though, my husband loves me even with this problem.
Do you have any health problems that embarrass you? How have you dealt with it? Does it hold you back from anything? Has it ever held you back in your life?
Any thoughts welcome

Oh no! Not again!! Stop with the similarities already :-)
I remember all the bladder-related accidents in school very clearly.
Fortunately, I got to the bottom of the problem early on. Lactose Intolerance. Give up dairy products & the whole picture changes. Dairy products weaken the bladder dramatically; studies show. Hope this helps :-)

Just thought you might be interested in what can help for Lactose Intolerance.
I have tried it when I have digestion problems and it has helped me and lots of other people.
It is lactic acid bacteria.
We find them for example in yogurt, but as the gastric acid in our stomach destroys most of the good bacteria taken in as food, I use a capsule with 5 of the most important ones. In this way they are protected until they come to the duodenum and further on to the small intestine and colon where they are released.
All five kinds of bacteria have their own place and they find them without problems. The first lives in duodenum, the second in small intestine and the three others have their special place in the colon.
These bacteria are created to work with our digestive system so we get them as babies from our motherĀ“s milk. For some reason - sometimes wrong kind of food - the good bacteria may be destroyed and we have to take them now and then to keep the right balance.
These capsules are available on the market, and if you want to get more info, welcome to send me a message.
When we have the right balance in our digestive system, we can often start tolerating milk products better if we want to eat them.

Sorry about the similarities, It's weird that we have so much in common, right?

Thank you for your input, Buenavida. Our family tried that some time ago, for a long time, back in the 1980's. It works well with the digestive system, eventually, but still one gets a weak bladder as a separate issue with dairy. We found the cheapest (those capsules aren't cheap, long term!) & simplest & healthiest approach was to stay away from all forms of dairy. It fixed a whole range of other health problems as well. All that phlegm, for example... gone! Our bodies really weren't built for drinking the milk of another animal in our adult lives. Check the PETA website on this one. A dairy intolerance can be tested by a good doctor these days.

Hello lilangle.
somewhat like you,my problem stems from not getting the signals from the brain that my bladder is full until the last second before I have to go.
This happened in my youth, when I had an accident"fell from a slide" and damaged some nerves.
Once I get the feeling of being full,I have very little time to get to a washroom and no time if I have to wait, so a number of accidents at school.
I did learn after awhile, that if I released a small amount at a time,I was able to save from a full accident to a minor wet spot.
When I was 10 years old,my sister was born and as I helped my mother take care of her after school,I realized that although she wet all the time and it did not show as she was in a diaper and plastic pants, that I tried a pair of the plastic pants over my underwear, and it worked fine.
So,I have been wearing them ever since, and even though the problem is still with me,no one has found out,so quite happy now.
And yes, this did interfere with my life as far as dating went,I am very happy for you that you found someone that loved you enough to let you have a normal type life.
Many Blessings.

That's horrible, I was born with my problem. The same thing happens though, I don't usually feel it until the last second and then sometimes it's to late.
Everyone knew about my problem because I always had accidents in school. My husband loves me even with this embarrassing problem he just jokes about it sometimes which bothers me sometimes when I am in a certain mood but other times I just blow it off and laugh.

My problem is on my colon. I easily get indigestion, or diarrhea. It's really quite a discomfort for me. When I get stressed, I get LBM. When I'm anticipating an exam, or a travel, or a presentation I get those symptoms.
If I go to very windy places, my stomach gets upset.
I've had a very embarrassing date once because it acted up.
I also hate traveling for fear of an attack.

I can't really say that I had health problems in the past, because I always thought of myself as relatively healthy.
But I can't say that now. Aside from not getting enough exercise, I think I am also having bladder problems now. I used to go all day without going to the washroom, but now I think I can't go on more than 2 hours without pee!ng. And it has become quite a problem specially in long drives.

Sorry to hear of your ailment. Thank God i was born relatively healthy. I think my ailments are more on the emotional and psychological side. I can share that as a youth I also could not control my bladder and was known as a bedwetter. It was difficult making friends because since i was the youngest of four, my siblings would tell other children when they were upset with me. But like all childhood behavior, the bedwetting slowly decreased until it ended. I believe the last time was when I was 13 years old. Mostly though, my self esteem and being a good friend to others made those that became true friends to ignore my bedwetting and today we are still friends. Its a matter of first accepting yourself for who you are, and others will eventually fall into place. Thanks for sharing

I'm glad your bed wetting days are over but unfortunately mine aren't. I have learned to deal with it more since I am an adult. I have accepted it or better words I have dealt with it.
I wish it would be gone though.
