Lending out your school supplies.

It seems like some people were never prepared for class. Therefore they were always asking for pencils, pens, paper, whatever. Once and a while is fine, we all forget, even us meticiously prepared people. However, it got to the point where it really did get out of hand. Plus, there are times where I found that my pencils and pens were never really seen again. Did you hate it when you gave your things to people and they never bothered to return it? Most of the time it seems like these people act like they don't know what you are talking about.

ha ha ha! yeah! that's the funny part and sometimes I just laugh at it. I understand they needed it but in terms of needed they gonna return it when they buy a new one for them that happens all the time. I remember still when I was schooling when they return it with a short hands I just said what happen did you eat it he he he but just kidding aside and I told them that this pencil was this big but when you return its this small anyway lending is good but proper manner they should return it right after class.

Yes, indeed. When the bell rings, they should return it. Find someone else to give a hand out next class if they must. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Hi, megamatt. This is one of the things that I have really disliked about school. It is when I lend a pencil or a pen to someone, I never see it again. Sometimes, I would just buy a certain pack of pencils and pens just on purpose, so that when a students need to use one, I can give them one of them. I don't like lending out my good pens or pencils because I may never get them back. This makes me so mad. I have been around many classmates that just don't seem to bring their own school supplies at all. I never had a problem with lending anything to them, but when they make it a continuous annoying habit, that is when I will tell a fib to them then.

If you do lend out things, that is a nice thing to do. Have extras on hand, so if someone decides to conveniently forget to give it back, at least its not too much of a loss. Of course, if you feel the need to be nice enough to feed into the laziness of other people. And if they do return it, then that is so much the better. At least you are going to get it back, to potentially lend it out to another person that might or might not give it back. Or use it yourself. Thanks for response. It is appreciated. Have a nice day.

I have school supplies that I do not always use, and what I do is I lend out my school supplies to people who cannot afford them. If they don't give me anything back, I don't mind, I usually have more where it came from. I have a lot of connections when it comes to getting school supplies.

Yeah, if you have a surplus, that's okay. I know I had a bunch of pencils and pens when I went to school. Still it can make me wonder about certain people. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

In grade school, we were always given our school supplies by the teachers. In high school, school supplies becaame our responsibility. I wish that I had a penny for every sheet of paper and pencil and pen that I loaned to another student. It's not that they couldn't afford their own supplies, they just didn't caare enough to come prepared to class.

The only difference was that school supplies were always our responsibility. Of course, there are a lot of the times there will be teachers that would have school supplies for those who forgot them. That did vary a lot of the time from teacher to teacher. That really is one of the things that tended to become less. It is really a smart thing to be prepared and to have some extra supplies as well. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

As a mathematics teacher it is unacceptable to come to class with out paper and pencil, and not to mention come to school without supplies. You are correct, there are students who are prepared, and students ask constantly to borrow pencils and paper. I give pencils, but never get them back! In the beginning of the school year, just about all of the students come prepared. It later when students forget, and/or do not care. Students should only bring two pencils to class. Tell the students you need the other pencil in case one breaks. Let the teacher give supplies. On the other hand, if you know that a student is prepared everyday most days, then lend that pencil :) I do not lend my books. Some people will not return your items. Have a wonderful school year!

That really does seem to be it. The students tend to put on the best face and the best impressions during the first few months of the school. Then as we get past a few months, they are really going to get lazy. It really does make the students who actually are prepared look rather bad by comparison, as of course, not all students are like that. That really is a bad thing, not really fun. Hopefully people learn to be more prepared. Maybe we should help them by stopping lending out our things to us, when we are prepared. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

it doesn't matter.anyway ,what i lent is not costly.

Well its not costly but to me that is really not the point. It is the act of people thinking that I am their personal lender and they don't have to be prepared for themselves. That is really something that frustrates me a lot of the time and that is the one reason why I stopped lending out my school supplies. It might seem a bit petty, but it is just a lot of the lessons that I learned. So yeah, not costly, rather annoying. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

Lol I usually had this problem in high school and middle school. It does get annoying but I don't really mind if its just a pen or pencil, since I get all of mine at the dollar store and sharing is a good thing. But if I'm running low on supplies myself I will say Sorry, I don't have an extra pen or pencil. I usually have several perforated notebooks with me so when people ask for paper, I just tear one out xD. In uni, I still notice people borrowing things and such but they are usually kind enough to return things :)

Yes, it seems like people are a lot better borrowing things as they mature. Well not always but for the most part. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I really hated it when that happened. I usually don't say anything to the people I lend my pens and pencils out to but I do expect to get them back after class. But there's been a few times that that didn't happen. The person just kind of blew me off and acted like they didn't do anything wrong. I'd get so pissed but since it wasn't worth blowing my top over (it was just a pen/pencil) I just learned to ignore them when they tried to borrow something the next time. I'd tell them that I didn't bring an extra one and that's it.

Yes, when they pretend nothing happens, that is really infuriating. I just make a mental note never to give anything to that person ever again. Of course, there was a certain point where everyone had to suffer after it happened one time too many, I want to say about my Junior Year of High School. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I have learned 2 important things when it comes to loaning out school supplies. I am a giving person so these lessons had to be learned the hard way. First: Never loan out an item of value or necessity. My graphing calculator has been gone for 6 years and I know I will never see it again so that was a lot of money down the drain. I also gave out my last pen thinking I wouldn't need it right away...I was wrong. Second: Never expect to get something back. I have learned that classmates rarely return the items that they borrow. I have my personal stash of materials, but I also carry a few cheap pens and pencils that are more dispensable. If I get them back it's cool, but if not it doesn't really affect me or my performance.

Those are two really good lessons. That's why I stopped loaning things up. People need to learn to suffer the consequences. After all, I'm prepared, so why should I have to be inconvenienced. Especially when it a constant thing. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

yeah... i hate it when my pens are never returned... usually i would try to remind my self to ask it back.. but still i forget... and when i remember about it, they would not know where it is.. tsktsktsk.. anyway, i remember my classmate in high school, she would nag if some classmates borrow pen or paper, and she would sell the paper by piece..

Yes, that is really frustrating. I really hate to ask for my things back. Especially when the same person asks me for a pen the next day. I would really have one to loan to them had they returned my pen. So very frustrating. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.
