I love travel. I dream to go every place in the world, although it is not available.
The most important factors may be is the money, I think. Is there a way to help us use the least money to have a best travel.

One way to travel is to work overseas. When I was 18 years old I went to work as a children's nanny in Finland. My wages were high and I saved the money. Instead of flying home I used an inter rail pass to travel home on. It let my tour Europe by train. I stayed in youth hostels.
When a person is a full time student it is well worth getting an International Student Identity Card. It offers many discounts on flights and when traveling around. Another good card to get would be the Youth Hostel Association membership. It is cheap to stay in youth hostels. Another cheap accommodation is camping in a tent.
Some countries are cheap and some are medium priced. Some countries are expensive. It is always worth borrowing travel guide books from your local library to read up on travel destinations. The biggest expenses will be transport, accommodation and food. It is possible to get cheap flights.
In Europe countries like Romania and Bulgaria have low prices. I stayed in private rooms there. Much of Africa is cheap to medium priced like Kenya. There are many cheap countries in Asia like India, Thailand, the Philippines and Indonesia. In the Americas Peru and Bolivia are cheap. In North America it there are many backpacker hostels.

Going free and easy, or backpacking is a good way to save on trips. You need to plan your trip really well and do a lot of research on budget hotels and transport. For example, a few people can share one hotel room to split cost, find out whether that country has a tourist card that allow limitless travel etc.
Another way is to go places where you have a friend and you can stay in for free
One thing to note is, if you want to spend less money, be prepared for lower levels of comfort.

I like the way you adviced: find a place where a friend lives.
But the resource is limited...

It depends on your age and needs of course. But I have been able to travel to many places with not so much money. You can get good ticket deals in airlones if you check at them. And there are high season and low season tickets so that you can travel in low season and save a lot. I always take a gadget with which I can boil a cup of water. That means I can have coffee, te and a soup for almost no cost. I make sandwichs instead of going to restaurants or eat where the working people eat, They know best. Every country has cheap food and expensive one. I check which is the cheaper. I remember years ago, in Paris with my husband, eating an awesome sandwich in the stairs to the Louvre. We bought a baguette, a wonderful cheese that was unexpensive there and a bottle of water. In Paris any restaurantwas too expensive as waiters earned good wages. So it was a sandwich for us.
In many places museaums are free one day of the week. Wewent to museums that day.
I still make my own food while on vacations now that I´m older. If I can do it at home, I can do it elsewhere. At some places cans are not expensive: eat that. In other places the unexpensive thing to do is to go to the market. That can be a wonderful experience.
All my airfares now are paid by my online earnings. For pocket money I have a piggybank where I deposit coins once in a while.
Next week I´m going for my second vacation this year. And I´m widow and retired.

That's great and amazing to have a tour around the world. before making trip go through various airlines for the rates as well as the hotels. to the most try to minimize expenses. Anyhow it will be a wonderful experience and even our life is short. so why care for money? just start your journey and do some small jobs you know in the countries you visit and make money of it.

Friendship with localities
Try to be friendly with the local people and you will get travel tips for cheap stuff everywhere. Talk with people about the country and get some cheap travel tips about the room rates and hotels. A taxi driver will guide you to cheapest hotels if you tip him a dollar. However, cheap is not everything, make sure that the location of the hotel and the hotel itself is safe.
The other mantra of low budget travels is "do not pay for those things that you do not need to use". With almost same facilities, a 5-Start hotel will charge twice what a 4-star hotel will charge. Most travelers use hotels for sleeping in night. So there is no point to pay for many facilities such as swimming pool when you do not intend to use them.
Safe travel in the future my friend :)
