How to get more traffic to sites?

I have just made two sites about affiliates programme. For new sites, how to get more traffic? Expecting good suggestion.

SEO. Read Dan Thies - SEO fast start. Some people swear by using traffic exchanges but I hate them.

I very much agree with you diamania, it is the only way. Traffic exchanges seem like such a waste of time and effort to me as well, so I avoid them like the plague!
