Yeah I frequently go to the library as it allows me to read and escape the stress of every day life. So many people nowadays just sit on the couch and watch tv or play video games all day long. This sort of behavior is not a good idea if you engage in it for extended periods of time.Everyone should have a set amount of time each week and go to the library and read a book. This will help their mind stay healthy and they will feel better knowing that they are not like most of society today that play excessive video games.cheers

thanks for the reply, i agree too many people play games and watch tv, although my sons reading improved due to the final fantasy games so some times they can help, although no substitute for a real book and using the imagination which is what tv and games take away.

Hi Sunsetdawn,
It is a sad thought that I never got to visit a library for more than 2 decades now because we don't normally have public libraries here in the Philippines. The only public library that I knew personally is the National Library and I only got to visit that twice.
Schools of course have their own libraries but since I have graduated and left school in 1981 I had no chance to go back and I have no access to any public libraries if there are any near our place. Instead, I go to a bookstore where I can buy books that interest me. I still find books a valuable choice over ebooks as I get to bring them just anywhere I go when I feel like it.

hello :) thanks for reply, its a shame you dont have access to public libraries they are something we have always had and most never use which is sad really, as good as the internet is it can never replace the feeling and atmosphere reading a book in the quiet of a library, something that is getting harder to do as most now are closing.

Yes i still go to the library when i can because besides having a large source of books it gives me calmness and some peace where i can dwell and live on the books written by great people.
I also love to read novels so i prefer if i could that in a library instead at home. I could also borrow books and read them. Some libraries also have e-resources which i can use them at any time i want to. Library is a great place for me to hangout.
P.S. THIS IS THE ONLY PLACE WHERE ANYONE CAN STUDY PEACEFULLY I BELIEVE!

thank you for answering and for request :) x i used to go a lot but now most of the small ones have closed and unless i want to go to the city which i prefer not to, then i cant get to one, also they used to be open all the time and now we are lucky if its 2 days a week making the internet or e books easier, i must agree though that the feel and atmosphere in a library is something i miss.

Yes, of course. I love libraries, and have since I was a child. I don't go that often at the moment, though, because I live pretty far away from my nearest one, but when I lived closer to it, I would go a lot.

I don't go to the library as much as I used to ever since using the internet, there is everything on the internet but the library can have just as valuable information and probably much more reliable. It's a shame I don't go anymore but I will now make the effort to go. We have one of the biggest and best libraries in the world and I'd better make good use of them :D

Yes, I do go to the library once in a while. You are right, story books can be found in many places. The one special reason I go to the library is relaxation. The library in my neighborhood is very well facilitated and very relaxing. One can pick up a book of one's choice and just sit down in there relaxing while reading the book. I used to go to the library every weekend before, now just once a month or so.

I visit my local library every three weeks. I love the idea of being propped up in bed at the end of a busy day and stepping into a new adventure. It helps me to unwind and I can fall asleep much easier. It helps my brain go into park instead of running around at full tilt.

I still go to the library, and I still find it pretty crowded when I do. I prefer bookstores and buying books rather than just borrowing them, (Someone's gotta feed those authors and publishers!) but of course I can't always afford to buy every book I want to read. So I use the library. It's a great resource. Personally, I can't stand e-books so I don't care where they're offering them for free. Give me a good old-fashioned paper book... please!

There is no library close to where I live but I used to work in a town that had one. I used to go every week and absolutely loved it. Websites are fine but they can't compare to browsing shelves of books and physically picking one up and leafing through. There were also newspapers, magazines and reference books to look through. Now, unfortunately, I work on the outskirts of another town and there's no time to visit the library in my break. You're made me come over all nostalgic!

Hi sunsetdawn,
Yes, I still go to the library. I've been going since I was a young child. I used to go several times a week when my son was young. He loved going and getting a LOT of books each time. I miss reading the children's books. I liked them almost as much as him. lol
I don't go as much since I moved to the midwest from Boston. The library isn't as close to my house here as it was in Boston. I go to get out a book here and there or a magazine or two. I also get DVD's once in a while, but I don't like the way they charge $1 to take out a DVD here. I also go to classes they have at the library once in a while.

I still go to the library often, about every three weeks. It's true that there are ebooks but when I'm waiting in a doctor's waiting room, or when I am waiting for my kids to finish practise, I prefer to carry a book with me than carry a laptop. A book is so compact that it fits everywhere, and as I need a large amount of books for I read a lot, I go to the library to borrow them.
