Have you skipped working? I do mostly mondays when i did not make it to the office on time. I had made up different excuses like having a head ache, dysmenorhea, emergency matters etc. And i guess the best excuse i gave to my boss is that it is my birthday LOL! and i am enrolling my kid in school.
how about yours?

Basically i skip work days when i found myself not enjoying my work anymore, i give my boss a variety of reasons i can think of like having a diarrhea, sever cold and running nose and an asthma attack..LOL!
there are a thousand reason that we can formulate with the use of our creativity but one thing that makes me think before pursuing this kind attitude towards my work, upon living with this kind of attitude it only gives me a negative feedback and before I could refrain from doing this routine i would find it hard to go to my work because I'm already used to my old routine which have taught my how to be lazy...

I agree with you ice, i once feel that too. Getting used of the habit and makes you find it hard to break the habit.

I do this always when I was still working. Dysmenorrhea is my favorite excuse because I get to use this every month. As in every month lol.. That's why, you bet, I no longer have Sick Leave credits! Well I don't mind being absent without pay if I have no choice as long as I get to enjoy my time outside work.
Then my next common reasons: Gastritis, Bronchitis, Vomiting.
I always present a medical certificate (pretty good acting in front of my doctor)
I don't skip work for a day... It has always been 2-3 days to make my condition realistic lol.
If I have to be absent for just a day, then that's the time that I use family emergency.

Bunked classes, bunked work too... that's me!
I was a bit non-creative in making excuses at work. At studies, no one asked why I bunked classes.
At work, it was sometimes my illness, or my wife's illness, or some guest visiting us from out native place was acceptable for quite some time. Then one day I even made an excuse - I got over drunk! and was suffering from hangover....
But now, with age, I have realized that not going out on work has a negative impact on many things... Hope you dont make it a habit

just for informations sake - did you really have a kid by then? One of my friend had a habit of telling his boss that his Granny (who expired ages ago) was ill and he had to rush her to the hospital. One day he got caught by the boss and he was on this excuse. When caught red-handed and abused, he was simple in telling the boss - "Whet wrong did I do by telling you that my granny was sick, I only tried to re-incarnate her and feel that she was alive".

Hello Bluerain. I made a few excuses when I was young but I don't do it now. I'm happy to book a holiday if I need a day off and in this current situation no one should risk losing their job for taking a sickie. Anyway when I was young I hated working on Mondays and I once called the boss to tell her I was in France on a surprise weekend break and couldn't get back because the ferry had been delayed Luckily I never got found out

My best reason for skipping work is that I am really sick. i have not been absent and not used any of my leaves for one year straight. now, the next year when i was really sick that time, even just a short notice i did to my boss, it was really fine with her and she even suggested to take more days of rest. See how nice it is if you haven't overdone your absences? and i took a whole week of sick leave that time and when I get back it was really never an issue at all.

Haha! You are funny! Sometime, I also have same kind of reasons as yours but when it is my birthday, the office allows us to really skip work and be on leave of absence. But so far, my habit of skipping work is mostly planned. I get to ask permission or inform he office in advance that i will be absent on scheduled dates. My best reason so far is that i will be having a few days vacation. If unplanned, sometimes i get to text message my boss that i will transact important personal business, which also can be true. :-)

Well for 3 days of work, you can hardly ound a reason to skip. You have at least 4 days off. Unlike ours we have 5 days and a half of work. A very little time left for youself and family.

haha, nice topic. this is a topic that i can really relate too. i love skipping work. i know that sounds horrible, but i do. i even once told my ex-bf that when i'm at work, mostly what i do is planning out my next skip day. my parents always tease me that it's very, very rare for me to complete a whole week at work. even my other relatives know about this. it would probably make other people be embarrassed, but it doesn't make me feel that way.
most of the times, i pretend that i'm sick. here, my number one excuse is dysmenorhea. when i already used it up, and i have to skip again so close to that day, i would say i have diarrhea. our office isn't really that strict about this, you just have to clear it up with medical. and when sick leave's not allowed during peak season, i just usually take a leave without pay. it kinda bums me out that written memos about leave without pays are back. they took it off for a while but then, absences were flooding the offfice.
i also don't like going to work when it's raining. so when it's raining really hard, i always take an emergency leave. plus, working at the airport really sucks during heavy rains. lots and lots and lots of problems. delayed or canceled flights plus irate passengers, not really an enticing reason to go to work.
wel,, we can only use the birthday reason once. we actually do get birthday leaves, so we only have one of that in a year. maybe when i get a kid, i'll use the "enrolling my kid" too. i'm actually thinking about telling them that i would enroll if that would get me an extra day off. :)

:D sometimes i used to say i cant get outof the house because it is raining hard and busses are scarce in rainy days. But that will be only mondays since i only go home at weekends and goes back to my workplace on mondays. So i will just text and say i cant make it on that day. LOL

during my school days, i always go to the clinic and ask for any medicine, example for tummy ache, tooth ache.. etc.. then i'll skip classes and the next day i would easily ask for medical certificate because my name was in the log book and i would present the certificate to my professor. So maybe you can work out the same scheme. =)

If I'm skipping my work their is really now best reason if I'm telling the truth. But if I'm gonna lie. This is what I'll say:
Please excuse me for being Absent, I was absent yesterday because I was having diarrhea due to the food that I ate in a cheap restaurant.
I'm really hoping for your kind consideration.
That is all I can say. You need to be a Good liar so that you can think of that.(kidding)

hmmmm...when i still have a job... i don't want to skipped work at first because i want to impress my boss...but then dysmenorrhea came and i cannot tolerate the pain so i had to skip work..but then the tendency is..once you've done it..you would want to do it again... so the next time i have my dysmenorrhea..i'm absent from work... even if the pain is tolerable..=)

hahahaha! my boss will just say 'yes','ok','sure','just file a leave of absence' when you get back to work he would say how are you feeling. It is during our quarterly meeting that he would remind us on our absences. So we try not to skip for bout two weeks. :)

Ahhh. I have used a lot of excuses specially when I'm feeling too lazy to go to work, fever, headache, migraine, dysmenorhea, stomach ache, family emergency and lack of sleep. Hahahaha. I think my boss already knows that I am just making up all those excuses and that I am just really too lazy to go to work, though she never really confronted me about it. Hehe.

The best reason to skip work would be for medical reasons. if you are feeling under the weather, the last place you want to be is at work. We shouldn't skip work just because we want a day off. That is what vacations are intended for. Jobs are hard to come by and keep in today's struggling economy. Don't jepoardize a job because you skipped going there.

well before, when i was still employed, the most used reason that i gave is i have a headache lolz, my job before is processing documents in the government so i also took the chance to use it also as my alibi, and then call the office that i could not drop by at the office anymore because my appointment is at 8am. i really liked the job i had before
