I enjoy watching TV shows like Jerry Springer, Maury and Face to Face (a TV show in the philippines). These shows features realistic problems that occurs in our daily lives, and usually the most shameful problems that one wouldn't want to get involve. Aside from the fact that it is entertaining how guests express their angry feelings to each other, It also serves as an eye opener to all the viewers. But there is a question that keeps on circulating in my mind, where on earth do their guests pull some courage to flaunt their problems in front of National TV! because if I were them i would rather keep it and solve it through the help of my closest friends.. how about you?

Hi, grenz07. I like watching these shows too. I have never heard about the show being Face to Face though. Many people feel that they have to air their dirty laundry for millions and billions of people to see. But this is not necessary. I guess that they feel that if others see what is going on in their life, it makes them appear honest. I could never go out in public telling all of my business to the entire world on national TV. Shoot, when I get back home, I probably will lose family, friends and my job. Plus my reputation in society. Especially if I tell someone that I have been sleeping with my teenage son.. (Example). This will look very bad on my part. I would rather get my problems solved in private. It is not worth the embarrassment of letting others know all about my personal life status..

Yeah that's right. It takes years to build your reputation and just a second to ruin it. Its sad to know that If you have made a huge mistake your life and has been exposed in the community, it will stay in the minds of those who know you forever and they will even use it in the future as a bomb to put you down when you had quarrel with them.

I would never air out my dirty laundry in front on National TV. I mean, why should I give myself something to be ashamed about in the long run right? Hehehe. I guess there are just some people who would do things just for the 15 minutes of fame. I mean, I can't imagine myself shouting and swearing and slapping somebody who have done me bad, or someone who had hurt me. Hehehe. And another thing, I don't really like confrontations.

I could never be the type of person to air all of my problems with somebody for the world to see. I would never be on Jerry Springer taking on a close friend or enemy. I would try to find another way to resolve an issue. Fifting and insulting someone on national TV is not my brand of entertainment.

In the UK we have such a programme that is called 'The Jeremy Kyle Show', and it never ceases to amaze me the things that people will tell millions of people about their lives. If I had dine a small percentage of some of the things they come out with on that show I would die of shame that anyone heard of it never mind go on nationalTV and tell millions!!

No way! If i had a problem, the last thing i would do is go on a program and "sell" my problem. I mean, these people probably get quite a bit of cash for coming forward, but its not worth it, to be made a freak infront of everyone. There is this show here in England, called embarassing bodies, which is stuff like people having green toes, and other medically weird stuff like that. And i cant help but think that, if you were really so ashamed of having friends round the house because of this bla bla bla, would you really, really go on television and tell the nation you have this problem? Whats more, i hate they way they start crying etc, when at the end of the day, they stuck themselves on the tv knowing what to expect! grrr... annoys me a lot.

i would rather solve it by myself with the help of the people that i know and care for. i don't really watch these type of tv, but i have seen a few episodes of face to face, although not a full episode. i just see a lot of fighting. i could never picture myself being on a show like that. plus, i think that any problem solved on national tv isn't really solved. i mean sure, they would say it's okay, they forgive each other. but really, nothing could be solved just by talking on national tv right?

I believe that those kind of people are desperate and has no other solution left for them problem, or they are thirsty for attention. I saw a TV show like that about a psychologist who had conversation with a married couple, apparently the father is looking down on the mother... to a level of abusing. He tell fat jokes about the mother's butt and is being nasty to her and to them children. And until the middle of the show the father sincerely believed that is right with his ways when the doctor asks him how would he feel instead of her. The poor woman had to go to national TV, she had no other choice, she would never be able to make the father understand it alone that he is hurting her feelings and is being a jerk. Also she could not go and tell her friends about it, its too shameful.
