Why do people still freak out saying President Obama is a muslim?

First of all, if the man says he's not then I believe him. Second, why would that be such a terrible crime if he was? Why do people act like just because someone is a muslim they are going to do the terrible things others have done. Christians (no offense) have done some pretty terrible things in the past as well as most other religions. That doesnt cause people to make false statements and freak out.

Ugh. Why is always Christians and Muslims? There are a heck of a lot of other religions who do bad things. As far as Christians go, they say they are Christians, but if we're going by what the Bible says, the people who blow up abortion clinics are not Christians. The people that verbally or physically assault gay people are not Christians. I can say I'm anything. But I have to have the actions to back it up.

Oh, and my comments isn't directed at you. You mentioned other religions. I was just talking in general.

Its cool I understand. I mean I'm Wiccan but everyone thinks were gothic freaks who thinks we're witchs or hippys. I am a completely normal functioning human (though I do own a VW Beetle ) but we get a bad reputation because of some other kids who dont even know what the spirtuality really means. It is very frusterating, so I feel your pain for sure.

Because people are narrow-minded and prejudiced. They tend to generalize. Since the terrorists are, for the most part, Muslims, then all Muslims are terrorists. That is generalization. People judge. They have no right, but they do it alyway.

it presses a button. the kind of christians who freak out at this are emotionally wired to view islam as the enemy. probably because the religions are so similar and pose a threat to each other in terms of converting people. had exactly the same kind of thing happening in the culture of the middle ages.
